Spelling Practice!
- Write your spelling words in alphabetical order. Then, write it in reverse alphabetical order! J / Sorting!
Complete the sorting sheet. Then, sort something at home (toys, supplies, clothes, etc.) Write a sentence to explain how you sorted on the back! / Shared Reading!
- Bring one of your “Classroom Library” books home. Practice reading this story to someone at home. / Freezing COLD!
Will all liquids freeze if you put them outside overnight? Choose a few different liquids and try it! Bring them inside and see which melt the fastest. Write what you discover in your journal!
Create Your Own!
- Use your spelling words to create your own word search. Give it to someone else to see if they have find your hidden words! / Xtra Math
- Spend some time on this website to practice your math facts! Will continue to take our test each Friday and add popcorn to our bags! / Read, Read. Read!

- Learn your super bowl history! Can you find out 3 to 5 facts related to this upcoming Super Bowl? Let’s get ready for the big game by sharing all we know. J
Evil, Sneaky E
How many new words can you make by adding the sneaky E? Write them in your journal:
Ex: can cane / Review Graphing
Create your own survey question. Ask the people in your family (maybe on the phone too) and create a tally chart & bar graph to show your data. / Personal Narrative!
- Think about the coldest winter day. What did you do to stay warm? Use at least 4-5 sentences and tell a story about that frigid winter day. Draw an illustration to match. / Quality Programming!
- Check out the Discovery Channel or Science Channel. Write 2-3 sentences about what you watched.
Endings
We have learned root words and the endings: -ed and –ing. Compete the sheet to practice reading these words! / Learn to Type!
- Try “Dance Mat Typing” on our classroom website’s TECHNOLOGY link (left side of page). It’s a great early way to practice typing skills! / Riddle Me This!
- Give three to five clues about a mystery “something.” Use complete sentences. Read your clues to a parent to see if they can figure out your “mystery something!” / New Year, New You!
