Choice of school for school year 2018–2019

It is now time to choose a school for your child or children that are going into the preschool class. From Autumn 2018, the preschool class will be obligatory.

School placement at a municipal schools in Bollnäs

If the number of students applying for a place is greater than the number of places offered by the school that you have selected, then the principle of relative proximity will be applied in the first instance, which means that your child cannot be guaranteed a place or priority for the closest school. The principle of relative proximity gives priority to the student who stands to lose the most from not getting a place. More information can be found in the guidelines. School placement at an independent/free school

Independent schools in the municipality have different principles for taking in students and their queuing systems. If you have accepted a place at an independent school on your child’s behalf, then your child cannot have a place at a municipal school in Bollnäs Municipality at the same time. The child’s place at the municipal school is therefore made available to other students.

Choosing schools online

Places at municipal and independent schools in Bollnäs are chosen via our web service, Skolplatsen. See will be able to make your choice of school from 8 January onward. More information can be found at

Your choice of school should be made by 21 January 2018 at the latest. Notification of school placement will be made by 16 February at the latest.

E-identification/bankID

In order to make your application on Skolplatsen, you will need an e-identification/bankID. Only one guardian needs to make the school choice, but both guardians must approve the application on Skolplatsen. If you do not have a bankID, you can go to our website, for more information. If you are unable to make the application via the e-service, you can get help from the education office.

After-school facility

Applications for places in an after-school facility are made once your child is placed at a school.

Termination of preschool places

Places in municipal preschools are terminated on Skolplatsen one month before the child is due to finish at the latest.
