Minnesota We the People Caucus Resolution Instructions
The Minnesota Move to Amend State Network needs people to bring our proposed U.S. Constitution amendment language to Minnesota caucuses all over the state. We need members of all political parties to attend their local caucuses to present the We the People Resolution. If you will not be going, please pass this along to someone who is.
Precinct caucuses are neighborhood meetings with people of your own political party. They are not necessarily held in the same place as where you vote; therefore check here to find the location -
The purpose of caucuses is to select delegates that will endorse your candidates and to adopt resolutions supporting issues you care about. At the caucus during the allotted time, you will read your resolution, discussion will occur, and then it will be voted on to determine if the resolution moves on to the next level. Anyone can read a resolution and anyone can volunteer to be a delegate to go to the next level; perhaps all the way to the state convention. Watch YouTube videos about what to expect at your precinct caucus, if you want more information.
It is important that we use the same Resolution as it will have more impact if identical wording comes from many precincts. Please print our 2018 Minnesota We the People Caucus Resolution and bring it with you to your precinct caucus. A Resolution Form will be provided to you at the caucus when you attend and if you don’t know Congressional District, Organizing Unit, Precinct or other similar information they can help.
Attach the We the People Resolution to the Resolution Form. You may want to bring tape ora paperclip to assist your attachment of the resolution to the form. When you attach the resolution put the two RESOLVED paragraphsin the RESOLVED section. The WHEREAS paragraphs are the points that support this resolution. If there is not a specific place for them tape them to the back. Forms may vary for the Republican, Democratic, and Green Partycaucuses.
We want to track the adoption of our resolution at caucuses around the state. If you attend a caucus and read our resolution, please email the name/number of theprecinct caucus you attended and the results, to . Please write “Caucus Report” in the subject field.
The caucus is the first step. So if you have time and opportunity to join the Resolutions Committee please do so. If we can get members moving forward with the We the People Resolution it will help ensure our resolution moves on through the process to the state conventions.
Let’s continue to get the Move to Amend message out there. Good Luck to you and enjoy your caucus.
If you have questions do not hesitate to email us . Please write “Caucus Question” in the subject field.
