IBM Tivoli Directory Server 5.2 Installation

Make sure that DB2 8.1 with Fixpack 6 is already installed.

If installing this software from a location other than the CD, make sure that the path to the installation files does not have any spaces in it. If there are spaces, GSKit will fail to install.

Make sure that you have logged in as the wasadmin user created during the DB2 installation.

From the ismp folder of the software distribution, run setup.exe. Click OK for English as the language.

Accept the license agreement and press Next. DB2 should have been already installed.

Press Next. Choose the default installation location. This should be C:\Program Files\IBM\LDAP. Press Next. Select English as the language and press Next.

When asked to select the features to install, ensure that the features shown in the figure below are selected. DB2 is already installed hence we don’t need to select it.

Press Next.

Press Next to start the installation. After the installation is complete, you should see a screen as shown below.

Click on Next.

Click on Next again.

Click Next to restart the computer.

After reboot, log back in as the wasadmin user.

Wait patiently. Within a minute, the LDAP configuration tool will start.

Select File  Close.Stop all Tivoli services.

Install Fixpack 2

From the C:\Tivoli Dir Server FP 2 folder, run install-update.bat to install the fixpack. During installation, press any key to install the fixpack. After the installation is complete, press Enter to complete installation. Close the command prompt.

Select Start Programs  IBM Directory Server 5.2  Directory Configuration.

Select Administrator DN/password. Enter root as the password. Click on OK.

Click on OK in the message above.

Select Configure database. Choose Create a new database. Click on Next.

As the DB2 user ID and password, enter wasadmin. Click on Next.

As the database name, enter LDAP.

Click on Next.

Choose the C drive as the database location. (If you do not have enough space in C choose some other drive). Click on Next.

Click on Finish.

Wait for a few minutes. Finally you will see a message as shown below.

Click on Close.

Select File->Close to exit out of the tool.

Verify Installation

Start the IBM Tivoli Directory Server V5.2 service. After the service starts, open a DOS command window. Go to the bin directory of the LDAP install directory (C:\Program Files\IBM\LDAP\bin). Enter the command show below.

ldapsearch -h localhost -s base objectclass=*

You should see an output like below.

Close the command window.
