Ron Brown Scholar Program

Eligibility: Must be US citizen or permanent resident, African American, current senior, requires SAT/ACT, financial need considered.

Award: $10,000 per year to the college of your choice ($40,000 total)

Entrepreneur of the Year Award Program - The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award

Eligibility:

  1. A graduating high school senior who is entering his or her freshman year at an accredited 2-or 4-year university, college, or vocational institute in the fall of 2013;
  2. must have officially established business is a requirement; demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through starting his/her own business; and participating in organizations such as DECA, Junior Achievement, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA),Future Farmers of America (FFA), National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), among others; or through other initiatives;
  3. They encourage students to mention any endeavors or work experiences offered as community service, for example: babysitting, lawn care, dogwalking, tutoring, etc.;
  4. must meet or exceed recommended academic standards, using standardized test scores (ACT/SAT), class rank andGPA as indicators provided in high school records/transcripts;
  5. Are selected by an independent scholarship organization & are merit-based, not based on financial need.

Eligibility: Be a senior, US citizen with 3.0 or better and good test scores, plan to major in engineering;

600 in math, a 550 in critical reading and a 500 in writing on the SAT, or a 29 in math and a 25 in English on the ACT

Dell Scholars Program

Eligibility:

  • Participating in a Michael & Susan Dell Foundation approved college readiness program for a minimum of two of the last three years (Dual Credit, AP Classes, Upward Bound, etc..)
  • Graduating from an accredited high school this academic year
  • Earning a minimum of a 2.4 GPA
  • Demonstrated need for financial assistance
  • Planning to enter a bachelor's degree program at an accredited higher education institution in the fall directly after your graduation from high school
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency

Award:$20,000 (can be used over 6 years); provides technology, a private scholar networking community, resources, and mentoring to ensure you have the support needed to get a college degrees.

Powdermaker Family Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility: graduating seniorin Dallas County High Schools with a GPA of 3.0; community, school, and extracurricular activities; leadership potential; financial need; and a citizen or documented permanent resident, plan to attend full-time at an approved college or vocational school.

Amount: Renewable - Scholarships grants will be made in amounts up to $2,000 per academic school year, for up to 2 to 4 years provided that the award does not exceed 50% of the estimated cost of tuition, books and fees. Scholarship awardees must maintain certain academic criteria
