A big hello to all of you from the Homeowners Board of OlympicVillage Inn!
We are looking forward to a great summer at OVI and I hope as many of you as possible can come up to the resort and see the property. There are many things going on in the Village for those who enjoy summer activities. The bicycle trail looks better than ever with all the water flowing through the Truckee River and the hiking trails are ready for everyone who is able to enjoy.
We just had our June Board meeting last Saturday at the resort and our financial officer reported we are currently under budget in the amount of $201,745. Major items on the agenda for the meeting included hiring an auditing firm, conducting a full updated reserve study, reviewing a remodel of the lobby mainly required by the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). We also discussed staffing issues and the problem with hiring and retaining housekeepers in the North Tahoe basin. Finally we had a performance review with Wyndham on their management of the resort since last August. As you know we have had some start up issues caused by changing to a management company and we continue to work those out cooperatively with the Wyndham leadership as they occur. A big issue this quarter has been the changing of our general manager. Today I am happy to report our board committee is interviewing an excellent candidate.
Some of our homeowners expressed concern at the meeting that our contract with Wyndham may lead to too much influence of a major company on our resort. I can tell you the board has always been very concerned with that as well, for that reason we wrote into our contract that no employee from Wyndham can ever run for our board, and no changes can occur at the resort without board approval.
With that in mind, I want to announce that a vacancy has occurred on your homeowner’s board. Your board decided not to fill the vacancy with an appointment, but to leave it up to the homeowners to vote. We have extended the date for those interested to nominate themselves to serve on the board and it is now set as July 10. 2017. Please consider running for the board and join a strong group of people motivated to maintain our excellent resort!
Please enjoy the summer and safe travelling!
