Read the assigned passage. In each paragraph, there is one sentence or phrase that does not relate to the topic. When you find the sentence or phrase, circle it. Be prepared to explain why it is not connected to the passage.

Demonstrates an understanding of transitional words and their meanings.

Correctly identifies topics, main ideas and important details.
