Outcomes: Bachelor of Arts History/Literature Concentration:

1. Be knowledgeable about musical styles and literature from the medieval period to the present time, including but not limited to Western Music. (Music literature. History, independent study, electives)

2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of fundamental music theory and

harmony. (Basic and advanced musicianship: theory)

3. Be able to read (sing) music at sight, write out dictated melodies, and

identify musical intervals. (Basic and advanced musicianship: sight-singing, ear-training)

4. Have a broad knowledge of general instrumental and vocal solo repertoire and music for large and small ensembles. (Concert attendance)

5. Be able to perform on major instrument as specified by syllabi at each level of education. (Applied lessons, required for four semesters)

6. Have a broad knowledge of repertoire for the major instrument (repertoire classes)

7. Have the ability to perform with other musicians in large or small ensembles as appropriate. (Ensembles, required for eight semesters)

8. Demonstrate increasing levels of technical skill and secure musicianship in applied studies. (Applied lessons)
