Town of West Bend

Public Budget Hearing November 9th, 2016

Chairman Paul Rice called the meeting to order at 6:15 P.M.

Chairman Paul Rice read the Notice of the Public Budget Hearing.

Present at this hearing were Chairman Paul Rice, Supervisor Jeff Geib, Supervisor Jim Heipp, Clerk Rebecca Schuster, Treasurer Julie Ihlenfeld and two Town residents in the audience.

Chairman Paul Rice opened the meeting. John Behrens wanted to be sure that we are still allotting money into our capitol equipment fund. He also suggested that in the future we set up a separate account for saving money for building repairs. John Behrens also questioned if we had received our anticipated donations. Steve Lindley wanted to know if levy increased due to new construction or where that increase came from. Clerk Rebecca Schuster stated that yes, it is from new construction and also we levied for our new truck purchase. Steve Lindley also questioned if we were planning an assessment in the future. Chairman Paul Rice explained that at his point we are not planning on one. At this point our values are right in line. The State has a percentage that we have to stay above and we are well above that. We watch that value and if we seem close to reaching the lower end of that we would schedule an assessment. John Behrens questioned why the budget amounts at the end of the year are the same. Steve Lindley questioned if closing the recycling expenditures were less with closing on Wednesdays this year. Clerk Rebecca Schuster stated that yes we did save money. The recycling center is still costing the Town money but it is much closer to breaking even than it used to be. The Clerk stated that is because we have a balanced budget. There were no more public comments.

Jim Heipp made a motion to close the public budget hearing. Jeff Geib seconded the motion. 6 aye, 0 nay. Motion carried.

Paul Rice adjourned the public meeting. Public hearing closed at 6:25 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted this 15th day of November 2016
