Making Money in the $tock Market

Goals & Objective:

1.  Develop an understanding of the stock market.

2.  Learn how to read and utilize a stock table.

3.  Invest a mock $13,000 into 7 different stocks, and gold or silver coins. Any remaining money should be deposited into a saving account.

4.  Research stocks that you feel will rise your investment portfolio

5.  Be able to buy and sell stocks, keeping in mind the cost of broker fees.

6.  Every Stock bought and sold must pay a broker fee of 3% on each transaction. Must see broker fees on transaction sheet.

7.  All teams will be competing against one another. In each class period, the team with the highest rate of return will get Ice Cream.

·  Working as a team, you will be starting with a balance of $ 13,000.

·  The list below contains companies that represent different sectors of the US economy.

·  Your team will make decisions as to which company from each sector you will invest in.

·  You will be purchasing shares of stock on the same day as all the other teams and recording that purchase.

·  You must keep track of the number of shares purchase, the cost, and the cost of the stockbroker fees. These will be kept with your records and will be required to be turned in each week on Friday.

·  Every other Friday until the end 5/13/2016, your team will be required to look up stock price in your investment portfolio. You will record your current stock price and compare to price you bought at. Your team will turn in the results to compare with the rest of the class.

o  You must keep track of the number of shares purchased, the cost, and the cost of the broker fees. Broker fees are to be calculated as 3% of the total price of shares purchased. These will be kept with your records and will be required to be turned in each week on Friday.
