Re: Letter of intent

To: Milton Youth Hockey Board of Directors:

My son joined Milton Youth Hockey as a four-year-old last winter and I knew right away that I wanted to be more involved in the program. The coaches and visible board members were very welcoming to my son and our family on and off the ice. After a successful second year on the ice (first year in Milton Youth Hockey) I left the rink asking myself, how can I become more involved in development of future hockey players, athletes, and youth for the town of Milton?

I decided to start coaching the various teams my sons play on. This past year I helped out with the house league on game days, coached five year old baseball in the Spring and am currently coaching kindergarten soccer. I enjoy watching these young athletes grown more confident and skillful throughout each season. I have also decided to get back on the ice teaching skills to young girls of Canton Youth Hockey. It is clear that young girls are lacking female coaches and role models at all levels of play.

Via my lengthy hockey career, starting at age four and concluding after two Olympics, I would contribute extensive hockey knowledge, skill and passion to the Milton Youth Hockey program. Player and coach development would be of great interest to me but I can be flexible to meet the needs of the program.

My professional career as a Nurse Practitioner at New England Baptist Hospital and Medical Coordinator for the Boston Celtics keeps me busy but my passion is ultimately on the ice and field. I would also be interested in improving the safety of the game from a medical perspective.

Thank you for your consideration,

Tara Mounsey
