CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

“Accelerated Civic Development and Cooperation” Project in Albania

The USAID “Accelerated Civic Development and Cooperation” Project aims to support and strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations, government bodies and private sector entities to fight corruption, ensure full public participation in improving the quality of services and governance, and support public-private partnerships. This project will be implemented from January 2017 to June 2020 and consists in three components.

  1. Assessment of civil society organizations, government bodies, and private sector entities,
  2. Awarding Grants for civil society organizations’ initiatives; and
  3. Technical assistance to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations, government bodies, and private sector entities.

In the framework of Component I, the project will identify and collaborate with at least 60 organizations from civil society, the public and business sector to assess their capacity building needs in the area of organizational development, and in development of initiatives in the area of democracy and governance.In each 6-month period, starting from the first six months of 2017, the “Accelerated Civic Development and Cooperation” Project will cooperate with 10 organizations working in democracy and governance sector to carry out their organizational assessment.

In the framework of Component II, the “Accelerated Civic Development and Cooperation” Project will award grants to civil society organizationswhich are active in election oversight, women’s empowerment, promotion of marginalized groups’ rights, fighting against corruption, and increased citizen oversight. The grants will aim to: (1) Build local capacity for long-term impact; (2) Strengthen democracy, governance, and civic education; and (3) Increase vulnerable groups’ participation in governance processes.

In the framework of Component III, the “Accelerated Civic Development & Cooperation” Project based on the organizational assessment carried out within Component I will provide technical assistance on organizational development and on enhancing the effectiveness of organizations regarding public participation in governance, fight against corruption, and civic education.

Through this Call, the “Accelerated Civic Development and Cooperation” Project in Albania aims to identify civil society organizations, government bodies, and private sector entitiesfocusing on human rights and good governance, which are interested to participate in the organizational assessment, and in the program of technical assistance.This Call will remain open until the selection of beneficiary organizations in the last round (July-December 2019). The organizations that will not be selected in a particular round will be considered for subsequent rounds.
