TERMS OF REFERENCE
FIELD RESEARCH OFFICER
Grade : C-3
Reports to : Manager Green office
Project / Programme : Tetra Pak
Location : Lahore
Work Week : 5 Days (Monday to Friday)
Contract : 12 months (renewable)
Work Hours : 8:30am To 5:15pm
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Establish contacts with the stakeholders formal (Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Private waste collection and management companies) and informal (kabadias, door to door collectors, radiwalas, waste dealers etc) waste collection system, paper mills.
2. Conduct a comprehensive sampling program while establishing a statistical population in the selected cities. The samples should be representative of the actual UBCs quantity in the waste paper stream in that city.
3. Documented evidence (call logs, meeting notes, photographs)for each meeting/visit/activity will beto reported to Tetra Pak.
4. WWF will devise a quantification method (as per Reporting Guidelines) for UBCs in mixed waste paper stream with a sampling method (not visual observation). There shall be proper documentation of findings made at all areas under study scope.
5. There will be clear information of UBC % identified at each site and its final destination/end point.
6. Information such as background, address, contact etc will be documented and maintained in the report for each stakeholders involved in the UBCs collection and recycling.
7. Develop and design survey methodology (including forms, questionnaires), implementation plan, and monitoring and evaluation plan.
8. Develop the survey client list and conduct surveys among focus groups, and other associated stakeholders.
9. Gather data, analyze, consolidate, and recommend action plans in the Draft Report and Finalize the Report after incorporating Tetra Pak’s Comments.
10. Draft environmental proposals for fundraising.
11. Any other input required by WWF – Pakistan and assigned by respective supervisor.
Selection Criteria
Candidates for the position of Project Officer – Marketing should ideally have;
1. An appropriate post-graduate qualification in one of the following disciplines: Masters/BS (Hons) in Environmental Sciences and Social Sciences.
2. At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
3. Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills
4. Experience in the social sector will be an advantage;
5. Other Skills and Abilities:
ð Aptitude for team work;
ð Excellent English, Urdu, Punjabi Language (speaking skills);
ð Proficiency in computers particularly Microsoft Office and SPSS
ð Familiarity with the waste management issues in Pakistan
ð A dynamic, pleasant and communicative personality;
ð Ability to motivate and influence others;
ð Sensitivity to gender and other current social issues in Pakistan;
