MONTHLY MEETING PLACE

PUYALLUP MASONIC HALL

HELD ON THE THIRD MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH

7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Now, doesn’t this look like fun? Our Rendezvous just keeps getting better and better. The weather was great, the food was fantastic, and everyone had a blast. What more can I say. Pictures are a thousand words. This year has been so packed filled with great events, it’s hard to get everything in these few pages. Well in the pages to come we will try to hit the highlights and the rest you will just have to catch on the website. More importantly, with all we have done this season so far, can you believe we’re just getting started. There’s so much more planned for the upcoming months, it’s exciting just thinking about it. Seemed like just a little while ago we were making plans for the gold shows . Well, they’re behind us now. The Monroe, The Cashmere, The Puyallup, The Spokane Gold show and two Cabela’s events, a day with Idlewilde Elementary School and Our Blewett clean up and memorial Wk. end outing. And just a few weeks ago, our Rendezvous. All in the record books now. Now for the upcoming events and outing scheduled. Hmmmm….

Hey ya’ know that little yellow slip of paper that’s coated in plastic you received when you joined this organization. Just consider it your open pass to all of our events to come. Our next great Adventure is just days away so start packing, call in sick, get a sitter for the cat, finish that shopping list, just do whatever it takes so you don’t miss out.

Memorial Day Week End

I decided to leave for Blewett on Wed. afternoon, figuring I would beat the traffic and be assured a good camping space for the week end. Well I got up there around 6:30 pm. Or so and to my surprise there happened to be more than a few members thinking the same thing. The space I wanted was already taken, but did however get a real nice space to set up for the trip. Folks straggled in to the claims all night and thru the next few days. I don’t think there was an empty place to camp left by early Sat. morning.

I spent a lot of time on the creek prospecting and really didn’t get a chance to see and talk to a lot of folks but those I did speak to were all having a good time and were finding the gold. I was privileged to meet a few new members on the water and made a few friends at the same time. I think this was an exceptional week end for finding the gold. It seemed like almost everyone was having at least a little good luck. I know I did.

The weather was about as good as it gets for memorial week end. Yeah, it showered a bit, but nothing to cry about. If you wore a light jacket, you were fine…

We sat around the fire each night telling tales of the day’s events and of plans for the tomorrow. I was amazed of how many folks came to sit at our usual camp fire each night.

Now let’s get to the heart of the trip……The Pot Luck Supper….. Or should I say “POT LUCK EVENT!”… 15 or 20 people make for a nice pot luck dinner but counts of the high 50’s were repeated thru this night. This was an event. And the food, those who missed it, well, what can I say… Big Mistake. There were three tables full of food to choose from and like the expression goes “ If you left this dinner hungry, it’s your own fault”…. Now please remember, all those who participated in this event. At the Pot Luck, you were asked not to forget to fill out those work sheets and hand them in to any board member so we may get credit with BLM for them. This is very important and insures our requirements to keep our claims active.

To all who participated in the event, may I say Thanks for making this outing a fantastic success .

OUR SPRING RENDEVOUS

Sat. June 9th was our annual club rendezvous or should I say flea market/swap meet/pot luck event. Weather held out just fine and our advertising must of done the trick because I think the parking lot was full all day long. We all had a great time and to add to the day. We invited Cascade treasure Hunting Club (one of our local metal detecting clubs ). To join in with us and hold a metal detecting contest which we opened up to the public. This put the day way over the top for it being a huge success. There were two contests. One for the kids, and then, one for adults. Our own Mike Zeka won first place, winning a new White’s Bullseye Pinpointer II. Way to go Mike! Cascade held a silver dollar raffle and I think one of our members won that as well. Bills grandson won the candy jar guess raffle and glen won the adult candy jar guess raffle…. Oh, and Bedrock held a gold nugget raffle and the winner was, huh!, Mmmmm. Oh yeah, ME! …I am pretty sure all the kids who participated in the contest went home with prizes and lots of coins.

Now this was a potluck luncheon and there was no shortage of good food on this day. Let me tell you! Richard worked the grill with a little coaching from our Bill Addy, those Hot dogs and hamburgers flew off the grill for most of the afternoon..

All through the day, I saw items bought and lots of things sold. Lots of happy faces. I got a great deal on some cast iron cooking things we really needed and a decent pair of hip waders. There was a huge variety of things up for sale or trade and a lot of great deals to be had.

We have to thank a few people for keeping this event flowing nicely, whether it be on the outside or in the kitchen. Shawn, Sandy, Glen, Mike, Doug, Richard, Kathy, Jim and Kathy and Bill. A job well done would be an understatement. SO let’s just say “THANKYOU”. I know there were more who helped out but, I don’t know every one yet. You folks know who you are. Thanks for all you help and support.

Again, another day where if you missed this, BIG MISTAKE! We will remember this one for a long time to come.

News Flash! Latest update from Chelan County is that the bridge will be open until the second week of July. After that, it will be a day by day. We can’t guarantee anything after the first week to be safe. So watch the Bedrock web page for any news closer to the 10th of July.

Our Naches Claim Outing July 7th and 8th

Well we blew the lid off the Blewett outing with a record attendance. Now, Can lightning strike twice? Here’s where we combine our work week end with a club picnic and a little prospecting and a whole lot of fun. Again, we’re asking our members, who ever can attend, we need as many to come out and play. Again we’re asking for those who attend to fill out those pesky work report sheets for BLM compliances. So if you can come, Let us know. Let’s all set another record outing…..

Washington Scouts Jamboree Aug. 17th 18th 19th

We will be looking for volunteers to help work out Gold trailer at this outing. This means a lot to the scouts and they are depending on us to put on a great display. So let’s not disappoint them. If you have some time you can spare helping out, please let us know.

Resources Coalition Miners Rally at Liberty. Aug. 24th 25th 27th

Our huge 2012 Raffle finally comes to an end. This is our last big event for the year and should prove to be another record setting outing for the club. Here’s where we get to give all those great prizes we’ve been hauling around all year a way. Who will be the lucky winners of the Gold Cube or the Keene Concentrator? Come on out and maybe it’s you! As long as you buy a ticket, that is.

Good Luck…

That’s what we’re looking for!
