Those attending introduced themselves.

Approval of Minutes Congress 2000


The minutes were reviewed and moved for approval and seconded.

Newsletter Editor

J. Rosiak and M. Weidman have been co-editors for 8 years. The opportunity was offered for another SIG member to take over this role.

Coordinator-Editor Position

We are recruiting members to run for the Coordinator-Elect position.

Needs of Membership:

Telephone Triage


Members expressed a need for formal guidelines for doing telephone triage: if form not practical at least content should be addressed.

J. Golick and C. Quirch offered to lead a work group to look into telephone triage. Need to identify areas to be sensitive in when developing guidelines i.e. licensure if crossing state lines, billable services, permission to use copyrighted material. Keep components of documentation are also needed.

Documentation

Issue of documentation format and needs discussed again. Reviewed history of this SIGs’ former subgroup activities.

Salary Survey


Need frequently expressed for information regarding what nurses are paid. Salary survey of SIG members again suggested. Possibility of SIG project funding or project request should be pursued.

Needs of Membership:

Computer Scheduling

Member’s state still may be most effective to count chairs as acuity varies so greatly. Need to find effective computer systems.

Pain Documentation


Need for outpatient documentation that fulfills JCAHO requirements is needed.

Mixing Chemotherapy


Several nurses still mix own chemotherapy drugs. Expressed need for training in this area. Frustrations in finding nurses to fill in to replace staff for vacations, ONS, etc. was expressed by those in small practices.

Intellidose – free service intended to decrease medication errors. Database of common protocols as requirement of service download information and send it in once per week.

SIG-Sponsored Sessions

Requests for topic submission ideas are available. Telephone triage suggested.

Sandostatin LAR

Members expressed problem with needle clogging. Recommendation 19g needle – training session for nurses.
