Shop Practice

Grade 10

Proficiencies:

Upon completion of the tenth grade level of the Computer Applications for Business course, having been given the necessary tools, equipment, materials and instruction, students should be able to meet the following proficiencies:

1. Practice safe work habits and follow safety and sanitation procedures.

2. Demonstrate good habits of shop maintenance, cleanup, and storage.

3. Demonstrate improvement in speed and accuracy in keyboarding.

  1. Practice technique of careful examination of work in order to develop pride in work and professionalism.
  1. Apply keyboarding and language skills in the composing of business letters and communications.
  1. Produce mailable output from unarranged documents utilizing the word processing systems presented.
  1. Demonstrate a knowledge, at an introductory level, of word, excel, power point and publisher.
  1. Demonstrate a knowledge of desk-top publishing with commonly used features.
  1. Demonstrate employability skills and work habits, such as work ethic, dependability, promptness, and getting along with others, needed to get and keep a job.
  1. Describe the importance of academic and occupational skills to achievement in the work world.
  1. Access and assess information on specific topics using both technological (e.g.

Computer, telephone, satellite) and print resources available in libraries or media centers.
