A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of Brock Ervin upon becoming a five-time state wrestling champion.

WHEREAS, at the 2014 KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament at Alltech Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, Brock Ervin won the state championship in the 132-pound division, becoming the first five-time champion in the history of Kentucky wrestling; and

WHEREAS, Brock Ervin defeated Danville High School's Daniel Lannum 25-10 to capture the title, which also helped Union County High School become state champions in the team standings. The Ervin family has long been a staple in the Union County wrestling community, and Mr. Ervin's historic achievement is another testament to the family's hard work and dedication to the sport for more than a generation; and

WHEREAS, Brock Ervin won his first state championship in 8th grade in the 103-pound division. He continued with four more titles—in 2011 in the 112-pound division, in 10th grade in the 126-pound division, in 11th grade in the 126-pound division, and as a senior at 132 pounds—making him one of the most decorated and successful high school wrestlers not only in this Commonwealth, but in the nation; and

WHEREAS, Brock Ervin was named the Orville Williams Outstanding Wrestler for his performance. He will wrestle collegiately at the University of Illinois, and this body wishes him the best of luck as he takes his extraordinary talent to the next level; and

WHEREAS, the House of Representatives hereby honors Brock Ervin for winning the 2014 KHSAA State Wrestling Championship; commends him for his extraordinary career; and acknowledges the hard work of his coach, Marcus Hoehn, and the dedication of his family as they helped guide him to his fifth consecutive state title;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives honors Brock Ervin for winning the 2014 KHSAA State Wrestling Championship and for his unparalleled career as a Union County High School wrestler, which saw him win five consecutive state championships; grants him best wishes as he takes his talents to the University of Illinois; and thanks him for the hard work and dedication he displayed on so many occasions as a Union County Brave.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Brock Ervin.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. Brock Ervin, Union County High School, 4464 U.S. Highway 60 West, Morganfield, Kentucky 42437.
