CRAWLEY WARD FORUM ACTIONS

Ref / Date of Forum / Issue / Solution / Who should be involved? / Referred to / Outcome
1. / 19/1/12 / Parking on junctions. Add the following to the list:
Crawley Green Road/Abbots Wood Road, Crawley Green Road/Durham Road. Progress report on 2010/11 programme / LBC
Highways & Engineering / Jonathan Palmer / Added to the list of future junctions. 2010/11 programme virtually completed with restrictions either in-place, the scheme dropped or objections to be considered. Those with objections to be resolved are Richmond Hill/Mountfield Road, Colwell Rise and Gayland Drive/Buchanan Drive.
(J Palmer 8/3/12)
2. / 5/7/12 / Could the Engineers please check whether there is sufficient room for a pedestrian refuge island in Crawley Green Road near to the Devon Road junction? / LBC
Highways & Engineering / Jonathan Palmer / There is sufficient road width to install a pedestrian refuge. The road is just over 8 metres wide. This would allow two running lanes of 3 metres each way plus just over two metres for the refuge island. Clearly parking requirements etc would need to be taken into account when positioning.
(J Palmer 9/10/12)
8/11/12 / Pedestrian refuge Crawley Green Road
By Devon Road junction.
Report back does not make it clear whether this refuge is going to be provided. Clarification please / LBC
Highways & Engineering / Jonathan Palmer / Refuge has been included on the list of future pedestrian schemes.
(J Palmer 13/2/13)
Pedestrian refuge will be part of the Crawley Area Studies project.
(J Palmer 5/6/13)
4/7/13 / Engineers are looking at the possibility of a refuge in the road near the Devon Road junction to make it safer for pedestrians to cross the road. Jonathan palmer said it may be necessary to move the bus stop opposite the junction. This bus stop has already been moved once to get it on the yellow line parking restriction so during the daytime the bus can get close to the kerb. Naturally we would like the bus stop to be still on the yellow line. An update would be appreciated. / LBC
Highways & Engineering / Jonathan Palmer / If the bus stop needs to be relocated to accommodate a refuge it will be on a yellow line/bus stop clearway restriction.
(J Palmer 7/8/13)
7/11/13 / Members would like to be made aware of the completion date for the Crawley Green Road refuge near Devon Road junction;Falks Hill 26 steps / LBC
Highways & Engineering / Jonathan Palmer / The refuge will installed as part of the Crawley Area Study. Unfortunately, the member of staff working on this area has left the employ of LBC which has delayed progress. The Crawley area is currently scheduled for installation in summer 2014.
(J Palmer 12/2/14)
18/3/14 / Item to be retained on the list by request of Councillor Franks.

4. / 8/11/12 / Push button crossing in Crawley Green Road by Somerset Avenue. Red phase is much longer than other crossings, could it be adjusted please? / LBC
Engineering & Highways / Jonathan Palmer / This is a Puffin type crossing with pedestrian detection which follows a person crossing the road and will extend the red light to traffic as required but only up a set maximum. Controller has been checked and no fault found.
(J Palmer 13/2/13)
Timings are as per DFT guidance. There are no faults on the crossing.

5. / 8/11/12 / Crawley Green Road/Abbotswood Road junction.
Parking in Abbotswood Road near the junction makes the road effectively only one car wide as you approach the junction. Engineers to assess whether this is dangerous and report back to the next forum. / LBC
Engineering & Highways / Jonathan Palmer / This is within the Crawley Area Study, as part of this we will be looking at parking problems around the junctions with Crawley Green Road. Currently, public consultation will be late 2013 or early 2014.

6. / 4/7/13 / Falks Hill.
Is this new road adopted please? What progress is being made with amending the diverted Brooms Path public footpath (which currently does not comply with the official diversion order) and with eliminating the 26 steps which make the busy public footpath unusable by many? Cllr. David Franks offered to meet officers on site to discuss alternative routes. / LBC
Highways & Engineering / Stuart Jackson / Planning & Development Control will be adopting Falks Hills in the future.
Brooms Hill Path will have a ramp constructed in the future by Planning & Development Control.
(S Jackson 01.08.13)
The steps at Falks Hill have been investigated and a site for an alternative ramp route has been assessed. Falks Hill is still unadopted as highway and the developers have been asked to address the problem. A response is awaited.
