King’s School pitch
not the problem
PLAYING on neutral territory at The King’s School, Chester, Timperley’s ECB Premier League title hopes took another knock when they lost a low-scoring game by nine runs against strugglers Bramhall.
Obliged to play on neutral territory due to ongoing problems at their Stockport road ground, Timperley are booked to return to King’s for at least the next two games and will be hoping for a rapid improvement in their batting to halt a run of only two wins in the last eight outings.
They did well to dismiss a weakened Bramhall line-up for 110, Nathan Brown taking 4-33 and Rudolf Brenner 3-26. Then Timperley’s batting let them down – all out 101 in 33 overs, Chris Canning top-scoring with the game’s highest innings of 29. Bramhall match-winner was new paceman Chris Sanders – who made his Cheshire debut next day – with a superb 6-26.
Quizzed about the condition of the pitch, experienced panel umpire Alistair Davies replied: “It was fine. Ian Greensmith and I gave it 18 marks out of 20 and the outfield 19. King’s had done a fine job preparing the ground and the teas. It was just poorish batting by both teams”.
While Timperley dropped to fifth place, Alderley Edge maintained their nine points lead by winning a high-scoring game at Didsbury by two wickets. Number nine batsman Liam Booth top-scored in Didsbury’s 232 with a fine knock of 86, aided by Mike Taylor, 68 in an eighth wicket stand of 166, while the reliable Richard Wilkinson took 6-52. Alderley replied with 233-8 after being 150-6, due to MGS skipper Ed Fluck, 50 and Tom Foreman, 36. Nick Anderson took 3-39 and Matt Gregson 3-64.
Keep an eye on CBH

CBH were some trouble at 61-4, but went on to win at 121-5 thanks largely to Harry Killoran’s unbeaten 28 not out

To which Neston replied with 227 all out, David Hurst 59, James O’Neill 49. Neston tail ender Paul Stimson was dismissed by Rashid Amin off the final delivery of a gripping game.
Toft rise to third after beating Hyde by 26 runs at Booth’s Park. Toft totalled 234, Dan Cranmer 4-49. Hyde’s poor league form continued when they were bowled out for 208, Dave Fitzsimmons 52, James Duffy 50, Jimmy Lomas claiming 5-39 and Rob Jones 5-59.
Nantwich confirmed fourth spot with a five wickets win at home to Bowdon, whom they inserted and dismissed for 157, Jack Tipton 34, Jimmy Warrington 4-49.
