GooloogongPublic School – Student Recognition Policy

(Adapted from the Canowindra High School Student Recognition Policy)

Purpose:

At GooloogongPublic School we are extremely proud of each and every student and, through the `Classic Catch’ Award recognition policy, our aim is to recognize positive student behaviours and attributes in the areas of: Schooling, Respect & Responsibility and Participation.

The examples below give an indication of the types of behaviours / skills which will be recognized as student’s will be `caught being good’ in many other ways.

Areas for Recognition:

Schooling / Respect & Responsibility / Participation
Academic –
  • high results, special efforts, improvement, consistent performance, independent work habits for all subject areas.
In the Playground
  • manner of play, involving others, use of sporting equipment etc.

Attainment Levels: Obtained within one school year

Bronze Certificate / 15 ‘Was Caught’ school merits across any of the three areas
Silver Certificate / 25 ‘Was Caught’ school merits across any of the three areas
Gold Certificate / 33 ‘Was Caught’ school merits across any of the three areas
Platinum Certificate / 38 ‘Was Caught’ school merits across any of the three areas
Principal’s Award / 43 ‘Was Caught’ school merits across any of the three areas
+ School Prize (‘I’m a GPS Classic Student’ hat )

Student’s achievement levels will be posted in newsletters, the Gooloogong Grapevine and listed on the school’s Daily Notice Board.

Student will receive their Level awards at Week 5 & 10 assemblies each term. Teachers will hand-out `Caught You Being Good’ merit awards at the time of observed behaviour or very shortly after.
