Assistant Jumps Coach, Varsity Blues Track
The Varsity Blues at the University of Toronto is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Part Time Assistant Jumps Coach for both the Varsity Blues Track Program and Junior Development Program.
Reporting to the Head Coach Varsity Blues Track, key roles and responsibilities include:
Leading all afternoon practices from 2-4pm for a small jumps group. Focus on technical jumps training. In addition to the jumpers, the successful candidate will be able to accommodate a group of combined event athletes with different training schedules. The evening and weekend sessions will be working with a larger group of jumpers /combined event athletes and junior development student athletes. A strong background in training theory, coaching and competing in the jumping events is essential. Must be available most weekends throughout the year to coach and attend competitions.
- Will work with the Head Jumps, and Combined Events Coach in overseeing practices
- assist in coaching a group of 30+ Jumpers, on
Monday thru Thursdays:2:00-4:00pm and 5:30-8:00pm
Saturdays:10:00am-1:00pm/attending competitions
- attend track meets with the team, January thru to August
- available to coach on most weekends
- assist in recruiting new athletes to the program, Junior Development and Varsity
- assist with home meets
Qualifications
- University degree preferably in kinesiology or physical education or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 1 years coaching experience in the CIS, youth club or provincial or national team programs
- Min. certifiedNCCP Level 1, equivalency considered.
- A strong background in training theory
- A strong desire to be a positive role model and show a passion for coaching in the sport of track and field
- strong organizational skills
