GRADING:

This assignment will be counted as 40% of Exam III grade (40 points) and is due on Exam III date.

TEAM MEMBERS:

Your team should have 2 -3 members.

REQUIREMENT:

1. Conduct a survey on at least 80 students to study the demographic of student body at Mt.Sac.

2. Design a survey with a minimum of 5 questions. At least 2 questions should be quantitative answers. Your team must submit your questions for instructor approval.

3. Tabulate your survey result and generate a report.

Assuming normal distribution and using Z-distribution for your analysis, write your report in MS Word and generate all your answers from Excel.

In your report, you must answer one of the following questions.

(If a question is being selected by two other teams, you will be asked to select another question)

1. Why students select Mt.Sac instead of other community colleges?

2. What is the #1 determinant affecting student’s class selection decision?

3. What is the average time a student spent studying for a 3-unit class per week?

4. What is the average time a student spent listening to music per day?

5. How many units of credit classes each students take persemester?

6.What is the average time a student spent on the internet per day?

7. What is the average commute time on each school day?

FORMAT:

You are required to follow the format below:

1. Cover page with all team members’ names listed.

2. Surveyobjectiveand process.

3. Survey report which should cover:

a. Tabulation and elaboration of your survey results withgraphicalpresentation using at least one pie chart, one bar chart, one histogram, one polygon.

b. A descriptive statistical report illustrating the mean, mode, medium, range and standard deviation of two quantitative variables.

c. Estimate the population mean of one quantitative variable using 95% confidence interval.

d. Select one quantitative survey variable, and surveyed another 40 students to verify the validity of yourinitial result. (Follow the hypothesis testing steps and use α = 5%) Interpret your testing results.

e. Conclusion should include a brief summery of your findings and answer the selected question.

4. Survey log which should include a copy of your survey, surveyed class reference number, instructor name, and number of students present on survey day.
