Duxbury Public Schools’ Procedures for

Technical Problems or Damage to the 11-inch MacBook Air

In the event that an 11-inch MacBook Air has been damaged, deemed unusable, and/or does not meet the requirements of Duxbury’s Enrollment Policy, the following steps should be addressed.

Bring the MacBook Air to the Tech Department in room B104 in DMS/DHS
·  Complete paperwork to record student information and identify problem.
·  School tech support will assess the problem and determine what needs to be done (whether school can fix it or another option need to be taken).
·  Student and parent are notified about how to proceed: Option 1 or 2 below.
Option 1
Submit an insurance claim (insurance needs to have been previously purchased) / Option 2
Bring the MacBook Air to room B104 to assess damage(s) and recommended next steps
·  An insurance claim form is provided on the school website. After completing this form, following the directions set for by the insurance company (this will include emailing, faxing, or mailing the form to the insurance company, sending the MacBook Air to the insurance company in a box provided by them.
·  If a loaner MacBook Air is needed while the insurance company has the MacBook Air for repair, the student should go to room B104 to request one.
·  When/if the MacBook is fixed, the student MUST return the loaner back to the Tech Department in room B104 prior to receiving their repaired MacBook Air.
·  Please note: we have been told that the insurance company’s repair is guaranteed for 90 days. If there is a problem with the repair, please contact the insurance company immediately.
·  BE SURE TO NOTIFY the insurance company immediately of any change in the SERIAL NUMBER of student MacBook Air. / ·  Tech specialists in room B104 will assess the MacBook Air damages. Warrantied MacBook Airs will be repaired by our technicians as we are an authorized Apple repair facility.
·  Please remember the following:
·  The insurance company will not reimburse you without prior approval.
·  You are responsible for all costs associated with fixing or replacing the Macbook.
·  BE SURE TO NOTIFY the insurance company immediately of change in serial number of student’s MacBook Air.
·  When/if the iPad is fixed, the student MUST return the loaner back to the Tech Department in room B104 prior to receiving their repaired MacBook Air.

Loaner MacBook Air Information:

·  A limited number of loaner MacBook Airs are available.

·  The loaner MacBook Airs are insured by the school and may be provided for up to 2 week periods of time.

·  The loaner MacBook Airs will be provided once the school-owned and issued MacBook Air is not functioning, has been sent to the insurance company, and/or is in the process of being repaired/replaced.

Replacement MacBook Air Information:

·  If the insurance company advises the MacBook must be replaced, the check should be signed over or remitted to Duxbury Public Schools and Duxbury Public Schools will replace the MacBook Air.

·  Duxbury Public Schools will contact the parent with the new serial number for the replacement unit. BE SURE TO NOTIFY the insurance company immediately of change in SERIAL NUMBER of student MacBook Air.

·  If the MacBook Air is not repairable and there is no insurance the parent or guardian will pay the replacement cost to Duxbury Public Schools.
