Gators Capture Larimore Polar Bear Title

The Gator wrestling team finished their busy week by crossing the border and taking home the Larimore Polar Bear Invite title on Saturday, January 26th. The Gators did this in dominating fashion as they won the tournament by more then 100 points. The Gators captured five individual titles, five runner-ups, one 3rd placer, four fourth place finishers and had two fifth place finishers. The Gators entered 13 scorers, along with 5 alternant that were non-scorers for the Gator team.
The Gators got off to a fast start as ten Gators reached the finals, of those ten, five took home solid titles in Devin Dostal, Corey Hasbrouck, Jacob Jenson, Tomm Ingle, and John Westman. Reaching the finals and finishing second were IsaakIsane,Wyatt Becker, Nick Kaml,BrandonWaage,and Beau Blumer. Collin Berard wrestled in his first varsity tournament and proved that he belongs at that level as he took home a solid 3rd place finish. Four wrestlers Nash Sovde, Trevor Undeberg, Dakota Gullikson and EthenDaignault went 2-2 on the day and finished 4th. Two Gators finished 5th in DaronSikorski and Cody Olson as they both had solid days going 2-2 respectively. Doug Peterson battled and came up short of placing on the day.
The Gator team had a very solid showing with 18 place winners. The Gators finished out their busy seven day stretch by winning the Prowler Invite, Mahnomen/Waubun Duals, the Larimore Invite title and a very solid win over a very tough Bemidji Lumberjack team.
The Gators will only have two more regular season events, one on Tuesday, January 29th in a triangular with RLCC and WAO in Greenbush, and a very tough dual on Thursday, February 7th against an always scrappy TRF Prowler team in TRF.
