Dear Parents –
Testing is OVER!!!! We are so proud of our kids. They worked so very hard during testing. We excited to see the results showing all of their growth from this year.
Tomorrow we will be having MLES Spirit Night at Zaxby’s (Lee Branch). They are going to donate 10% of what they make between 4:00 – 8:00 to our school. So join us at Zaxby’s. Let them feed your family and help our school at the same time.
If your child is going on the Washington D.C. field trip, there is a mandatory meeting at Chelsea Park on April 24th. It will begin a 6:00pm in the lunchroom. Please make plans to be there.
We are back to our 60 minutes of Moby Max this week. PLEASE encourage your child to do this each week. (It is NOT optional.) We have seen such tremendous gains with the students that have been using this. Please remember that students that don’t complete all 60 minutes lose recess and have silent lunch for an entire week. It is truly filling in the gaps for our kids.
Please keep this in mind – studies have shown that students that read 90 minutes or more every day score higher on standardized test. Research shows also shows that 30 % of the Aspire testing is organizing thoughts. That means that students need to be writing daily. They practice these things at school, but it is important to practice these things outside of school too. Please continue to encourage your child to read and write often. These are two simple things you can do that will make a BIG difference in your child’s life.
Have a wonderful week!!!
