Subject: FW: RE: Regulation of ALbert Sonographers under the HPA
Importance: High

Hello everyone :

Hurray : we are finally getting there with Regulation of Sonographers across Alberta. The documentation that was submitted to the Regulation & Legislation team and the Alberta Health Minister has all been accepted as of Friday May 27th, 2016. All readings passed and we have been given Royal Assent .

There are no times lines in place yet as there is other documentation that needs to be submitted as we proceed . The Health Minister and the Gov’t will set the time lines for grandfathering in under the ACMDTT & Sonography Canada .

This information will be sent out as the regulation team is made aware of time lines . If you remember MRT’s were given timelines back in 2003-2004 and it was not an overnite change .

As I am made aware of future happenings , I will get the work out

I have added in the ACMDTT College advisory that was sent out to their members as an FYI as it includes some more information that will help with the process .

I will also be sending out a separate email regarding the New Sonography Canada CPD ( Continuing Professional Development ) guideline for the new CME program that was introduced and took effect this May 2016 .

For those ADSA members who have sent in their renewals , we were waiting to see where the HPA & regulation were going. ADSA will be around for another year. The renewal notice will be posted on the ADSA website over the next week . There will be no penalty as registration will be late Payment by July 15th . We did not want to collect fees from our members and then have to reimburse.

Thanks

Ellen Johnstone ADSA President
