“Treat Others the Way You Want to be Treated.”

October 19, 2007Volume 4 Issue 8

Dear Parents/Guardians,

  • If you are interested in ordering books from a book order, October book order is due, MONDAY, October 22nd.
  • SCHOOL PICTURES RETAKE proofs are being sent home in your child’s folder.
  • PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE DATES AND TIMES: If you have a preference on a date and time for your conference, please send the note back to school by MONDAY, October 22nd. Teachers will be forming schedules Tuesday morning. If preferences are not sent in on Monday, times will be given.
  • Our HALLOWEEN party will be on Friday, October 26th. Included is a list of what your child has signed up to bring. I only require parents to bring one thing to one party throughout the year. If you are not signed up to bring something for the Halloween party, you are probably bringing something for the Valentine’s day party. Students should bring, NOT WEAR, their costumes to school on Friday. Our parade will begin at 2:00pm. We will get dressed around 1:30 and begin the party there after.
  • Penny War begins November 5th---start saving up the pennies for us and silver coins for others! See insert letter for further details.

SPELLING: List #5 is being sent home today with your child. Please study the words over the weekend. The vowel that we are concentrating on is I (long and short) and y when it makes the “i” sound (i,y,igh, uy). You can find words in books, magazines, or quiz one another.

Dictation sentences:

Which bicycle is the right one to buy?

Did he decide to write a story about lightning hitting a skyscraper?

MATH:MONDAY we will be having our place value test. Students were given a review sheet and a study guide packet to complete over the weekend! We have been studying place value for 3 weeks and have reviewed all concepts thoroughly.

ELA:Students began writing to their 5th grade pen pals from Mr. Janetzke’s class in Portland (Westwood Elementary).

Social Studies: Wigwam/Longhouse is due Friday, October 26th. If you finish your project and wish to bring it in and put it on display in the halls, feel free.

TEAMBUILDING: Students said, “FAREWELL” to their first cooperative group and met their new group. We will be developing new team names and cheers.
