Galveston, Texas is only 45 miles from Oakwood Shores. Besides its entrancing sea, Galveston has more fun and attractions than one can fit into an entire summer. From inviting pockets of interesting shops and cafes, to towering glass pyramids and its sparkling waterpark, the island offers something for everyone.

2 miles to Brazosport College is 2 short miles away and offers a broad range of courses and classes to address diverse educational goals. Students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree can enroll in introductory academic classes, as well as courses in sixteen majors which transfer to four-year schools.

Parks and beaches surround you at Oakwood Shores. Quintana Beach County Park, fronting the Gulf of Mexico, is worth every bit of the 15 mile drive. Nearby Surfside Beach has 21 miles of unspoiled shoreline. On the northeast end of the county, San Luis Pass County Park is one of the hottest fishing spots on the Texas coast, and a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset.

Houston, Texas is only 40 minutes away from Oakwood Shores and offers incredible culture, entertainment, shopping like The Galleria, the fifth largest shopping center in the nation. You'll have no problem finding a great restaurant in this city. With more than 6,100 restaurants and 600 bars and nightclubs in the Houston area, diners can enjoy a great variety of menus and cuisines.
