It is that time of year again…hard to believe that another school year is quickly coming to a close. Students shone in the classroom, on the playing field and court, on stage, in numerous clubs and in the community.
Final report cards are available for pick up in the main office on June 30. The report cards reflect all of your child’s hard work over the course of Semester 2. Many of our students are graduating this year and moving on to work or post-secondary programs. We congratulate them on their accomplishments and look forward to seeing that at our Fall Commencement Ceremony on Friday, October 14, 2016. For those returning in September, information about pre-registration dates will be on the school website and a synervoice message will be sent out.
In the new year, we will continue our work engaging students in numeracy and mental
health initiatives. We will continue to work to support our students in literacy and prepare our grade 10s for the provincial literacy test. We are also going tro focus on the importance of homework and how developing good homework practices can increase your child’s ability to be successful.
At this time of year, we also have to say good-bye to a number of staff who are moving on to other schools or who have finished their assignment here at Fletcher’s. Thank you to: Ms. Krapez, Mr. Knight, Ms. Bandhari, Ms. Sibia, Mr. Lascot, Mr. Reid, Mr. Christian, Mr. Grosso, Mr. McKinnon, Ms. Shatkowski, Ms. Fanthome, and Mr. Dosanjh. We also bid farewell to Mr. Friedman who is moving to Central Peel, Mrs. Leibner who is moving to Applewood School and to Mr. Tobon ( a pioneer staff member) who is heading to Chinguacousy Secondary School. Thank you for all of your work over the past ten years in the classroom and coaching…you will be missed. We also say good-bye to Mr. Banhan who was here for the year as a vice-principal on a part time basis.
We anticipate our student population staying fairly similar to what it was this year, but also do welcome a couple of new staff members. Welcome to Mr. Chaput who will be in our English Department and comes from Sandlewood Heights S.S. As well, our school will be welcoming Ms. Van den Ende who will be a teaching assistant in our new Section 23 program. We will still be hiring for next year for those teachers who are on leaves next year, so the staff will still be growing and you may see some familiar faces returning.
Finally, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our office staff and our custodial staff who keep our school running smoothly each and every day! I wish all our families a restful and relaxing summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you back in September.

September 6th – Follow the Arrows Day
On the first day of school, all grade 9 students participate in Follow the Arrows Day. ”This fun-filled day, which includes lunch, has students interacting, participating in a variety of activities, and getting to know each other – all while in the capable hands of our Leading Arrows Senior mentors.
