Lab-8: Spreadsheet Software: 20 points

In the next few labs, we will be learning about electronic spreadsheets. Spreadsheets are tools for organizing accounting information; one of the many nice features of electronic spreadsheet is that when a value is based on a formula, the value is automatically recalculated whenever any of the elements of the formula are changed.

USE A NEW DISKETTE. Whenever you are told to save your worksheet, save it on drive A: (the floppy disk drive) so that you have the worksheet on your diskette.

1.  Use a diskette to copy the Excel files from the server in your lab.

2.  Read pages EX0.1 – EX0.6. Execute the tutorial on pages EX1.1 – EX1.77 of your lab manual. On page EX1.74, make sure that your worksheet contains your name. Also change the Author of the spreadsheet to your name and section number, by going to File/Properties. Now you can set the footer for the spreadsheet so that your name and section appear at the bottom of every page automatically. Make sure you print this spreadsheet on only one page using File/Page Setup or File/Print Preview/Setup.

NOTE: For all spreadsheets, remember to change the author to your name and make the footer of your spreadsheet contain your name and section number, see page EX2.54. You may also want to choose landscape for some printouts.

3.  Do practice exercise 3 on page EX1.90 of your lab manual.

4.  Do practice exercise 4 on page EX1.91 of your lab manual. Once again, make sure that your name and section number appear on the bottom of the worksheet and as the Author.

What to turn in for the lab

Turn in your printouts of the worksheets (from the lab tutorial and the practice exercises), along with your diskette (remember to make a diskcopy!) containing the files for the worksheets since you will need them to continue. Your printout MUST be stapled together with your name and section number at the top, and your diskette MUST be labeled with your name, section number and Lab number.
