Art
You do not have to be an artist to enjoy this class -- just use your imagination -- express yourself -- try something different! Students will have the opportunity to experiment and refine skills using a variety of art materials. Students will learn the language of art to view, discuss and create art. Come share your creative Falcon vision.

Beginning Band
Start your musical journey by joining this band. Students will be introduced to woodwinds and horns. Students will learn to read music. This is a participation/performance based class and there will be various performances throughout the school year. $75 yearly rental fee.

Computer Keyboarding
Don’t be a hunter and a pecker. Prepare yourself forstandardized testingand beyond by learning computer typing skills (with more than your thumbs). Usingan online typing program,you will learn the basics of typingfor future success in our world of technology.

Do you want to continue to advance your typing speed and accuracy? Then join our Level 2 advanced keyboarding class! You must have already taken Level 1 keyboarding (during the last school year) to participate in this class. We will continue to work in our online typing program.

Drama
Students will play theatre games, learn the basics of the stage, and have loads of fun as they step outside of their comfort zone in front of their peers to bring stories to life. The study of performance, elements of drama, and focus on proper body and voice control will be included.

Falcon’s Crest
6th-8th grade mixed concert chorus class: this class is meant for any students who enjoy singing and performing and does NOT require an audition. This fun and exciting elective is a participation/performance based class and there will be various performances/competitions throughout the school year. Students will learn proper vocal techniques, as well as music theory. There will be some cost involved in purchasing performance attire – choral dresses and tuxes. Does your child love to sing and dance? In chorus, your child will learn special rhythm and vocal techniques for how to improve his/her singing voice. We will also focus on building confidence and stage presence. There are two productions in the school year (Christmas and Spring), in which your child will have the opportunity to showcase his or her talents on stage.

Italian 6th grade only
Parli l’italiano? Students in this class will get an introduction to speaking Italian – one of the five Latin-based Romance languages. Learn 100’s of Italian vocabulary words as well as a variety of memory techniques which will benefit you in all of your classes. The class incorporates a wide array of learning games to help you learn both conversational Italian as well as Italian verbs.

Intermediate/Advanced Band
Any student that has instrumental experience is welcome to join this band. Students with guitar experience may play bass guitar in this band. Students will continue to hone their musical skills. This is a participation/performance based class and there will be various performances throughout the school year, including participating in a parade. $75 yearly rental fee.

LLT News Now (Film Production)
Breaking News! You can be a part of creating a daily news program that will air at the school and on the LLT Academy web site. You will learn to use the iPad in shooting video and editing the final show for air. You will be responsible for daily announcements, writing, and producing stories and public service announcements. Everyone will be an anchor at least once. No experience needed.

Percussion
Percussion is for students that want to learn to play the drums and other percussion instruments. This is a participation/performance based class and there will be various performances throughout the school year. $75 yearly rental fee.

Physical Education
Physical Education is a time for students to improve their physical fitness and sportsmanship skills. Students will be expected to dress out and participate in individual and team sport activities. Students will not only improve their physical skills but their leadership skills as well.

Robotics
Build! Program! Test! In this class you will be challenged to create robots that will complete a variety of tasks. Using scientific processes your design team will be responsible for creating robots and building them. In order to make them move the way we want, design teams will program and test them. We will finish with a competition between the robots that are built!

Spanish 7th grade only
¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! This introductory class in Spanish is a prerequisite for taking 8th grade High School Spanish 1. In this class students learn basic conversational skills as well as Spanish grammar concepts. The course is taught with a variety of memory techniques and learning games designed to keep learning fun.

Spanish 1 (High School) 8th grade only
¡Hablamos español! Students enrolled in this course will receive high school credit after successful completion of the class. The students will incorporate a wide array of games, study techniques, teamwork and memory tools to become increasingly proficient in speaking Spanish. This course is by invitation only based on performance in 7th grade Spanish (a prerequisite for this course.)

S.T.E.A.M.
Through the use of hands-on activities, individual and group projects, model making, and online interactive activities S.T.E.A.M. students will explore, express, and sharpen their skills related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
S.T.E.A.M is an academically rigorous course. Students enrolled in S.T.E.A.M. are expected to orient themselves towards the accumulation and application of new skills not only related to S.T.E.A.M but in the areas of critical thinking, reasoning, and problem solving as well.

Technology
This technology class will cover a range of topics and activities. You will learn to be good digital citizens, learn some cool tools that can be used in any class, and create fascinating content. You also will explore some old technology as well as cutting edge new technology. Take this course and we will explore the future and possibly propel you into your future.

Webcoding
Designed for students with no or limited webcoding experience, Introductory Web-Coding focuses on introducing students to HTML and CSS. Students will gain exposure to these skills through codecademy.com. Built into the codecademy.com experience are tutorials that guide students through the development of a simple webpage and projects which encourage students to use their newfound skills independently.

Yearbook
Students will capture a school year full of memories to share with their classmates. Students will be responsible for writing, captioning, layouts, photographing and editing this publication. Creativity and hard work make for a rewarding experience with this class. Teacher and administrative team approval are required for this class.
