“Pogo” was 2nd in sweepstakes in the 15-18 month black bitch class of 23 entries at the LRC of the Potomac. She also made the cut in the 12-18 month black bitch class of 37 entries. She is bred, owned and loved by Ruth & Randahl Hoffmann.

“Snafu” was 3rd in sweepstakes in the 6-9 black puppy class of 16 entries at the LRC of the Potomac. He also was 2nd in the

6-9 black puppy regular class of 17 entries. Snafu was bred by Elizabeth Martin, Tom & Gail Shearer and is owned and loved by Randy Hoffman,

Jennifer Nee & Ruth Hoffman.

Hoffmann’s Pick Me Please

“Pebbles” made the cuts in both her regular and sweepstakes classes with entries of 38 6-9 black bitches at the LRC of the Potomac. Bred and owned by Ruth & Randahl Hoffmann. This was her first time showing and she did very well …we are so proud of our labs!

A Recipe for Your Dog

BARK-UATION SQUARES

Bakes up 18 squares -- enough to share with the whole graduation class.

1/2 cup vegetable shortening

1/8 cup honey

4 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/4 cup carob powder

1 cup white flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup carob chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, cream shortening and honey together thoroughly.

Add eggs, vanilla, carob powder, flour, baking powder and carob chips. Beat well.

Bake in a greased 9 x 13-inch baking sheet for 25 minutes, then allow to cool.

FROSTING:

8 ounces low-fat cream cheese

3 teaspoons carob powder

1 teaspoon vanilla

To make the frosting, mix cream cheese, carob powder and vanilla in a bowl.

Spread over cooled brownies then cut into squares.

Cover unused portion with plastic wrap or store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
