Texas – Oklahoma – Arkansas – Louisiana Region, National Association of Educational Buyers

Volume 04 – Issue 3 August 2004

New Orleans here we come! Hopefully you have marked your calendar for September 26 – 29, 2004. We are processing registrations now and your early application helps our host committee and the rest of our officer’s better plan for your arrival. If your institution‘s processes take awhile to get a check out, or your state’s rules are such that TOAL will need to work with you with a follow up invoice, let us know but don’t delay getting your registration form faxed on in. Please, make sure you meet our August 25th deadline for commitments or payments. TOAL would prefer to be flexible and understanding in honoring cancellations, but commitments to the hotel must be made weeks ahead of the conference.

The Louisiana Crew is hard at work planning every little detail to assure you have a safe, fun and memorable conference. I am sure you will love exploring the French quarter and all of its many wonderful historical sites and expanding your palate in the many diverse themed restaurants. And of course don’t forget the Tuesday night banquet and dance - always a memorable experience.

Our 2004 program chair, 1st VP Teresa O’Brien has done an outstanding job in putting together a program that will be educational and interesting. The topics are very timely and motivating – you won’t want to miss a single session. And don’t forget about the trade show – Tom has some real treats planned here as well – come try out your “hand” in luck and see what it will buy you.

So, have I enticed you enough to get registered and your hotel room booked?? Come join us on the Bayou! We promise you an experience you won’t soon forget.

See you in September!

Carol Barnhill

2003-2004 President

TOAL has a great web page packed with up-to-date information about our region, our newest members and the fall conference. The URL address to get there is:

Your Treasury is in great shape going in to fall meeting in New Orleans. We are beginning to pay deposits and other bills and money is being collected from registrants and vendor exhibitors. New Orleans is a great location with plenty to do, from going to Bourbon Street, Harrah’s large Vegas style casino, directly across the Street from the Doubletree Hotel, a first class hotel. I sincerely hope all of you can attend this meeting. Your TOAL Officers have been working very hard to make this meeting a memorable one, with a great program and social events. So, if you have not yet registered and made your hotel reservations, please do so as soon as you can. You do not want to miss this great opportunity to enhance your professional development, network with your peers, renew old acquaintances, make new friends and last but not least, have a great time and lots of fun!! Looking forward to seeing all of you there!!

Join us in historic and jazz filled New Orleans for this year’s TOAL conference. Come experience the sights and sounds that makes New Orleans a major tourist attraction the year round. Your office won’t fall apart if you’re not there for a few days, and you could use the break.

The Sunday night welcome reception will feature many different selections from VooDoo eggs to Catfish Fingers. The Tuesday night banquet will feature a Seafood Au Gratin and Chicken Lafitte buffet. TOAL will also feed you well daily for your breakfast and lunch meals too! We have contracted a great variety band for your dancing and listening pleasure on Tuesday night during your meal and for your dancing pleasure thereafter. Of course, you can always hang out late nights in the Hospitality Suite on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights in the event you have no place to go in New Orleans. Check the program for times.

If you haven’t registered yet, what are you waiting for? The early registration and room block rate deadline for single or double occupancy is August 25th. Fees go up thereafter. Go to the TOAL web site for information and registration forms. See you in New Orleans!
