Athletic Guidelines
The following rules were developed to let you, the player, and you, the parents to know what standards we feel are important for the athletic program at Mt. Tipton. Please carefully read and discuss these rules, and then sign to indicate that you are willing to follow them.
Academic Rules and Player Eligibility
1. We consider our first priority to be the player’s academic studies, and we will encourage the players to be responsible for their class work at all times.
2. Player academic eligibility will be determined as follows:
Students must obtain a “C” or better in all classes to participate. Any player, who has a ‘D’ or lower, in any subject when grades are checked, will be ineligible to participate in competition, until the following grade check (2 week period). The player will not be allowed to participate in practice or games, until the next grade check. If the player is ineligible for 2 grade checks during the season, they will be dismissed from the team.
3. Physical Examinations: No student is eligible to be issued equipment, engage in practice, or to compete in any activity until there is on file, an annual physical examination for the current school year.
4. Insurance: No student will be allowed to receive equipment, practice for athletic teams, or take part in activities until the poof/wavier of insurance form is completed and on file.
5. Consent for emergency care: No student will be allowed to receive equipment, practice for athletic teams, or take part in any activities until this form has been completed and given to the coach or sponsor of this activity.
6. Daily Attendance: If a student is absent from school, the student will not be allowed to practice or participate in any extra-curricular function the evening, or night, of the day the absence occurred.
7. Alcohol, Tobacco and Drugs: Tobacco means possession of use of. Drugs refer to using, possessing or selling to others. Alcohol refers to having in possession or having consumed any intoxicant drink. The penalty is automatic dismissal from the team for the remainder of the season.
8. Trips: On trips, participants directly represent the school student body, community and parent. Good conduct is the only thing that will be tolerated. All trips to and from activities by students will be made by school transportation, unless, due to hardship, injury, or parental request, special permission is obtained.
