INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS MINORING IN EDUCATION

Students undertaking a Minor in Education must complete at least four courses, either lower or upper division, that are not also being used by their major or another minor.

If you are completing a major or minor from the list on the Education Minor website, please submit the “Major/Minor Course Overlap Check Form” once you are enrolled in all required courses for all majors and minors you are completing. This form is in addition to the on line Completion Forms for the Education Minor. If you are unclear if you need to submit this form, please check with the Education Minor advisor.

§  List only the courses required for each major and any additional minor you are completing (even if the 2nd minor is in another college or school). Use additional copies of the Overlap Check Form as needed, but list each major or minor only once.

§  In the “Major” column, list courses you are using to satisfy a requirement for any major you are completing.

§  The second column, “Additional Minor” is for a 2nd minor, other than the Education Minor, you might be undertaking. You do not need to list the courses you are completing for the Education Minor on this form.

§  At the bottom of the form, list the one course (if any) that will be overlapping between your major or other minor and the Education Minor.

§  Obtain the signatures of your major adviser(s) and any other minor advisers on the Overlap Check Form(s).

§  Submit the signed overlap check form to the Education Minor Advisor.
