The Congress of Black Women of Canada - Oshawa/Whitby Chapter Leave a Legacy Scholarship is valued at $500.
Eligibility:
You are eligible to apply if:
You are an Afro-Canadian Single Mother pursuing post-secondary education. You must be from the Oshawa/Whitby area entering your 2nd year at Durham College, The University of Ontario Institute of Technology or Trent University Oshawa.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Possess strong academic achievement;
2. Is in need of financial assistance;
3. Must demonstrate evidence of some community involvement;
Application Requirements:
o Completed application form
o A letter of not more than 500 words
o A letter of reference from a teacher/professor
o A letter of reference from someone associated with an organization where you have volunteered
o College/University first year marks
o One passport size photo
Deadline for Applications:
Applications must be received on or before 5:00 pm, on April 12, 2013.
Decision:
Recipient will be notified by April 30, 2013 and will be required to provide a passport size picture for our program booklet. The recipient will also be required to attend our Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 12, 2013, to accept the scholarship award. Funds will be paid directly to Durham College/UOIT/Trent.
