Foreign Languages in Our Life. (text topic). Топик. Тема по английскому языку.

Learning a foreign language isn't an easy tiling. Nowadays it's especially important to know foreign languages. Some people learn languages because they need them for their work, others travel abroad, for the third studying foreign languages is a hobby. Everyone, who knows foreign languages can speak to people from other countries, read foreign authors in the original, which makes your outlook wider. I study English. It's a Long and slow process that takes a lot of time and efforts. Over 300 million people speak it is as a mother tongue. The native speakers of English live in Great Britain, the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. English is one of the official languages of the United Nations Organization and other political organizations.

English language is a wonderful language. It's the language of the great literature. It's the language of William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and others. Half of the world's scientific literature is in English. It's the language of computers technology. The great German poet Goette once said, "He, who knows no foreign language, doesn't know his own one". That's why in order to understand oneself and environment one has to learn foreign languages.

I think that to know English today is absolutely necessary for every educated man, for every good specialist.

Kuala Lumpur

City of Entertainment

Well, I know its very late to write my Asian travel experience, I'm sorry. I am kinda busy lately, but with my temporary transfer to HR-Volume Recruitment, I have an ample time to write and update my blog account.

After staying in Singapore for five days, Beh and I flew to Kuala Lumpur for another 4 days; the second leg of our Asian trip. Boarded Singapore Airlines, the thirty minute flight was a total experience. The plane was big enough to carry more than 400 passengers. Flying high at 35,000 feet above sea level was totally amazing. Plus the fact that there was this cute male flight attendant was an added treat.

To begin with, I had high expectations for both countries, Singapore and Malaysia. But Beh and I tried not to compare both countries to prevent dissatisfaction.

KLIA was amazing as well; at par with Changi. Imagine a tram transfer inside the airport from the arrival area to the luggage conveyor. AMAzing dubah!!!!?

With the advancement e-learning, we manage to get cheap ride, from the airport to our hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Although the trip was kinda long and traffic was starting to build up, still it was a pleasant ride. If there weren't a problem during our drop-off, it could have been a perfect experience.

We ignored the incident happened and headed to our hotel. The hotel lobby was nice, somehow it helped me not to remember what had happened during our drop-off.

Our room was ok, comparable to our hotel reservation in Singapore. Everything turned out fine, the city view from our hotel room was really breath taking. Although the room key was not really working fine, we have no choice but to bare with it. Beh used her "Mc Gyver" skill in coming up with a solution. BRAVO!!!!

On our first day in KL, we went to Genting highlands. Ang chaki ng bus na nasakyan namin. Mahal pa. Ang driver kasi ng cab suggested na better for us to get a ride sa terminal na yun kasi it's more malapit. Sobrang nice ng lugar and true enough malamig talaga dun. Thanks to cleng for giving us a heads up! Ü

We went to this snow world theme park. sobrang Lamig sa loob. Below zero ang temperature. Parang totoo. While talking to each other, meron lumalabas na smoke sa bibig namin. Kaaliw! Shet nga dahil we can't take pictures inside eh. We tried the sleigh ride. Sobrang fun kasi speedy ride siya na slide. Made out of ice yung slides. Meron ding tables and chairs na ice. Kaaliw sobra! Para akong bata!

Nag cable ride din kami. As in scary kasi yung cbale car namin, sumasayaw. Chaki nga lang coz it was foggy and raining at that time. Pero ok lang, I like the experience din naman.

Petronas Tower is indeed spectacular. A brilliant creation. We went there as early as 7:00am. We thought that we will be included in the first batch of tourist who can go to the sky scrapper. To our surprise, the queue was like Pera o Bayong pila. As in parang snake na sa haba. Habang pumipila kami, Si beh spotted a cute guy. I mean uber cute na look alike ni Matt Damon. Ang harot ni Beh;sobra sa harot.

University of California Education Abroad Program

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The University of California Education Abroad Program (EAP) is a study abroad program available to University of California students and students who attend universities abroad with which EAP has an exchange. Although each University of California campus has an EAP campus advisor, the Universitywide Office of the Education Abroad Program (UOEAP) liaises with host institutions and ultimately organizes each program option. The Universitywide Office is located in Goleta near the University of California, Santa Barbara.

EAP was established in 1962 as an exchange with the University of Bordeaux in France. EAP now offers programs at over 150 different host institutions in 35 countries worldwide serving nearly 4500 students annually.

Program options

As of Fall 2010, EAP has programs established in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines (EAP programs are currently suspended in the Philippines), Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

The study abroad program offers students academic opportunities abroad in English, for learning a foreign language and culture, or for taking courses in the language of a host institution. Program lengths vary from a summer or a quarter to semesters or a full academic year.

Being EAP essentially an exchange program, at the same time International students are allowed to spend from one quarter to one academic year in one of the University of California campuses. This part of the program is generally referred to as Education Abroad Reciprocity program.

PhD in Leadership and Change

PhD in Leadership and Change cultivates the current and future generation of civic, professional, and academic leaders. Students come from all over the country and internationally, and participate in quarterly residencies rotating to the various Antioch campuses. This low-residency program admits only 25 students annually from a range of fields; the curriculum is at once practical and visionary, examining the processes of organizational and community change, the imperatives of social justice, and the principles of participatory and ethical leadership. The program’s schedule is designed for students to enroll in a full-time doctoral program while maintaining full-time professional responsibilities and their current home residence.

Antioch College closure

In June 2007, the Board of Governors of Antioch University suspended operations of Antioch College after years of effort to bring the college out of financial exigency by stabilizing campus leadership and increasing student enrollment. At the time of the suspension, University Trustees announced its intention to re-open the college in four years. It was their belief that four years would give the university the necessary time to develop and execute a plan for re-building Antioch College in a manner that would both honor its legacy and secure its future.

Shortly after this announcement, a group of Antioch College alumni, headed by the Antioch College Alumni Board, expressed interest in purchasing the college from the university and re-opening the college as an independent institution. The alumni group formed the Antioch College Continuation Corporation as the vehicle for negotiating and owning the college. After two years of negotiations including several failed efforts, the parties agreed to terms, and on September 4, 2009, the parties conducted a signing ceremony that ratified their agreement.

There was considerable controversy among members of the Antioch College alumni group, suggesting that the University should not have or did not need to close the college. During this same period of time – 2007-2009 – two different organizations (the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools [NCA] and the American Association of University Professors [AAUP]) conducted audits and investigations into the University’s actions, with a response from the University.
