TRADITIONS PLAYLIST, October 18, 2003

This was the principal fall fundraising show for TRADITIONS. Scott Alarik generously joined us for three hours of pitching; his book "DEEP COMMUNITY: Adventures in the Modern Folk Underground" reflects just the kind of community that I value in and around folk music here in the Washington area (and elsewhere). He pointed out that the current growth in folk music coincided with the growth of public radio, and we need to work together for continued good health. And of course, he has wonderful stories.

TRADITIONS airs Saturday nights, 8 to 1, on 90.9, WETA in Washington, DC and 89.1, WETH, Hagerstown, MD and streams on

Folk music has been part of WETA’s programming since the station began in 1970; Mary Cliff has been host/producer since 3/73.
