EVHS - LIFE SKILLS

This class is an elective. If you pass, you will be 5 credits closer to your graduation requirements. It goes by very quickly. Staying on top of everything is your responsibility and is very important. Goal setting is one area we will explore in this class. My goal in this class is to pass you and help you to move forward. What is your goal???

______is RESPONSIBLE for bringing the following to class EVERYDAY: (these are the basic essentials that will get you through your day)

  • Your notebook complete with subject dividers, paper, pencils, pens, highlighter, etc.
  • A Journal Book to write down the Daily Objective(s), Agenda, other information
  • A positive attitude….remember……“If it’s important….make it happen”….

Organization and demonstrating the ability to keep track of your things is a very important part of your successes in high school and beyond.

Academic Grade

Your grade in this class (A, B, C, D, Fail) is dependent on how you perform on the given assignments. Since this class is mostly a values awareness class (your thoughts and feelings on a particular topic), your grade will be based on responses that are well thought out and supported with explanations. You have total control over your academic grade…what grade do you want to earn???

Work Habits(for each 5 weeks)

This is based on neatly completed assignments (with complete heading), reviewed for errors, and turned in on due date. You decide what grade you want….an “E”, “S”, or “U”. Since you have total control over this part of your Report Card, choose your grade:

0 - 2 missing assignments = E (excellent)

3 - 5 missing assignments = S (satisfactory)WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EARN????

6+ missing assignments = U (unsatisfactory)

Cooperation(for each 5 weeks)

This part of your Report Card is dependent on how you present yourself in class. Again, your choices here are “E”, “S”, or “U”. This includesMANNERS, language (profanity), gum / eating, cell phone, iPod, etc. Do not arrive late to your class.

0 - 2 times late = E (excellent)

3 - 5 times late = S (satisfactory)WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EARN????

6+ times late = U (unsatisfactory)

REMEMBER, “CHARACTER COUNTS”…….What do you want to earn???

Absences and Being Tardy

Not attending class or arriving late will definitely have an adverse effect on your overall grade in your class. This includes P.O./court dates, activity/field trip, illness, etc. Be warned that the best you can do on work that is turned in late (unexcused absence) is ½ credit. After one week has gone by…...no credit. If something is passed out to you and you lose it, it is your responsibility to get it from another student who has it. Save all of your assignments. If you are absent on a day that I show a video or have a guest speaker, there are no make-up opportunities for you.
