Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 6 Visit to Blackpool, 6th – 9th June 2017

As you are aware, in Year 6, the children are given the opportunity to go on a residential visit to Blackpool.

As I was not able to visit the previous week due to the adverse weather conditions, Mrs Lloyd (our Educational Visits Co-ordinator) and myself visited Blackpool on Friday so that I could view the accommodation and accurately risk assess the visit for myself.

Having now been and reviewed the location and suitability of the hotel and discussed the scheduled timetable of events, I am pleased to confirm that the trip will be going ahead. The cost of this four day visit including all transport, accommodation and food (apart from a packed lunch on the Tuesday) will be £185. For a jam-packed four days, I am sure you will agree this is a very good price for the programme we are following.

If you would like your child to participate, we would ask for a £50.00 deposit in the first instance to confirm your child’s space. Unfortunately we cannot book a space for your child unless you have paid the deposit. All deposits are non-refundable. This must be paid byMonday 13thFebruary when we will have to confirm spaces with the hotel. The remaining three payments will need to be paid on the 31stMarch £45.00, 30th April £45.00 and 31stMay £45.00. All payments, including deposits, must be paid via ParentPay.

The programme for the four days will be based around the highlights of Blackpool and will allow the children to create some magical memories as they come to the end of their time at Hugo Meynell. Children will be taking part in the following activities:

-Blackpool Pleasure Beach

-Blackpool Tower Eye and Jungle Jims

-A visit to the Circus

-Having a splashing time at the Sandcastle centre

-Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum

-Blackpool Dungeons

-Sealife Centre

-Traditional fish and chips on the promenade

Children will be staying at The Strand Hotel who have confirmed that we have exclusive use. The children will leave school at 9.00am on Tuesday and we will be returning to school by 3.15pm on the Friday afternoon.

The visit will be a fantastic experience for all those children who are involved in it. The ratio of staff to children will be 1:8.

I am very much aware that this is a visit which some parents get quite anxious about but please be assured that this visit should be a wonderful experience for all involved andwe will be working hard to make this a memorable experience for your child.

We will be vigilant at all times and your child will be given a group leader who they will be with throughout the visit. If any parents have any concerns or would like any questions answered, please get in touch with me at school.

I will need to know definite numbers for the visit by the 13th of February. I would therefore be grateful if parents could fill in the form below and return it to school as soon as possible, irrespective of whether your child will be attending or not. Children not attending will participate in a project based on their current topic.

Yours sincerely,

B Gleave
