- Who won the Election of 1860? Why was it a significant election in U.S. History?
- Define secession. Why did many of the southern states leave the Union?
- As a result of seceding from the Union, the southern states had to form a new government. What was the name of the government which was formed and who was its leader?
- What was Lincoln’s main objective during the Civil War?
- Where were the first shots of the Civil War fired?
- List and explain the advantages of both the Union and the Confederates.
- How did new technology influence the war? Identify at least 5 new technologies used during the War.
- Describe the Anaconda Plan. What impact did it have on the South?
- President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. What did this Proclamation do for slaves? How did it change the course of the war?
- Describe the conditions on the home front during the War.
- Explain how women served in the war effort.
- Describe President Lincoln’s plans for Reconstruction. (Be sure to include amnesty and the 10% Plan)
