Contract Opportunity Description:
Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) is soliciting interested and qualified consulting companies to participate in a prospective competitive bid for actuarial and benefits consulting services for plans covering up to 50,000 participants. PG&E anticipates releasing a Request for Proposal (RFP) in the near future that is expected to include three separate scopes of work for 1) actuarial services; 2) underwriting, analysis for health and welfare related benefits and 3) project-based actuarial and general benefits consulting. This work may ultimately be awarded to one supplier depending on the demonstrable value of using one supplier for both components of work.The scope of the work may also include, but not be limited to work regarding the following types of plans and services: Retirement Plan (qualified defined benefit plan: final pay and cash balance), Non-Qualified Retirement (such as the Excess Retirement and Supplemental Executive Retirement Plans), Postretirement Medical and Life Insurance, Postemployment Welfare (LTD), and Workers Compensation:
· Standard actuarial valuation reporting, end-of-year reporting, quantitative modeling and other associated services
· Budget forecasting
· Supporting regulatory (CPUC) proceedings and regulatory accounting functions
· Meeting with relevant PG&E staff to present and discuss various valuation results
· Responding to PG&E staff needs regarding deliverables as needed
· Presentations to executive committees including the Employee Benefits Committee
· Union negotiations support
· Preparation of economic assumptions for valuing and forecasting trust funded benefit plans, general benefits consulting including but not limited to actuarial, underwriting, compensation and communications regarding various PG&E activities
Ability to address all these above mentioned services and scopes of work is not a requirement for participation. However, please be prepared to demonstrate the full breadth of relevant services, capabilities, and value that your firm is able to provide regarding this project and the RFP.
All interested companies with expertise, experience and capability for providing high quality services covering the above-mentioned work must respond to this COA and its request for information in accordance with the schedule and items described below. Companies interested in pre-qualifying for this work must:

Please include the following information: Company name, e-mail address, contact name, phone number, a paragraph of core competencies and qualifications to the above described scope areas, innovative solutions/tools, and industries you have worked in (utilities are preferred). Please limit your core competencies and qualifications to no more than a two page total response.
The RFP process may result in one or more related contracts with qualified suppliers to support PG&E’s immediate and future needs.
