Massage Therapist Job Description

A massage therapist provides a variety of massage therapy services in a courteous, empathetic, and professional manner to clients of all ages in a physical therapy clinic setting. The massage therapist must maintain and provide proof of current license from the state of Wisconsin and professional liability insurance. The massage therapist must be detail oriented and have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality therapeutic massage therapy services to a variety of clients. Must be able to build and maintain an independent yet collaborative practice with other therapists, demonstrate excellent communication and marketing skills, and uphold the highest moral ethics and confidentiality standards congruent with a private medical practice. The massage therapist should always display a positive demeanor and take advantage of educational opportunities to promote overall health, wellness, and lifestyle modification appropriate for each individual client. Should be qualified to perform the following services: Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, prenatal, and post-endurance event massages.

Job Duties

§  Perform consecutive 30, 60, or 90 minute quality massage services

§  Design sessions consistent with each individual client’s needs

§  Listen to each client and modify each session concurrent with the client’s needs and areas of special concern

§  Review the patient’s medical history and medications, and take this into consideration when applying massage therapy techniques

§  Communicate well with the client and the client’s medical team

§  Promote the health and wellness benefits of regular massage therapy

§  Generate new clientele through loyalty marketing and attending marketing events

§  Maintain cleanliness of the therapy room and common areas at all times

§  Keep a regular schedule flexible to meet the needs of all clients

§  Strive to provide stellar customer service in every interaction

Position Requirements

§  Adhere to state laws and regulations

§  Attend continuing education to upgrade current skills

§  Be friendly to customers and patients

§  Learn how to schedule clients on-site and through use of phone and website computerized scheduling systems

§  Perform own and/or clinic laundry duties

§  Can take calls in a professional manner for the general practice if available

§  Able to work flexible hours and days to best meet the needs of clients

§  Meet on a monthly basis with the private practice owner to communicate volume, needs, issues, and marketing approaches
