General:

These specifications describe the minimum requirements for Vehicle Towing Services. The service specified is to be utilized by Suffolk County Community College. The equipment furnished to meet the scope of work, including all accessories, must comply with the requirements of NY –OSHA worker safety regulations and any other Federal, State or Local standards which may regulate the design, manufacture or use of this equipment.

Equipment Requirements:

Tow trucks shall conform to all current requirements of the New York State vehicle code and all state and local requirements. Contractor shall have the equipment required to meet the towing needs of the College, regardless of the size of the vehicle. The contractor must maintain in service a minimum of one (1) tow truck with 1 ton capacity or less and must have a least one (1) tilt-bed truck.

This bid is for towing services for Suffolk County Community College’s fleet of vehicles. The towing service will be mostly for passenger vehicles and light duty trucks. Occasionally there is a need to move a back hoe or a heavy duty truck.

Pricing:

Vehicles / equipment are to be towed / flat bedded to various repair shops located within Suffolk County or between Suffolk County Community College campuses (Brentwood, Selden and Riverhead). The College reserves the right to award contracts to multiple contractors and will consider contract awards based on service within a point of usage closest to each campus.

Towing services shall be available 24-hours , 7 days/week including holidays. Required response time is six (6) hours or less.

Award shall be for one (1) year with three (3) one year options to be exercised at the College’s sole and absolute discretion. The terms of each option shall be as mutually agreed upon by the parties.
