SARAH GILMAN MEMORIAL AWARD FOR

OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE STAFF

THE AWARD:

The Sarah Gilman memorial Award for members of the Occidental College staff will be presented annually to two staff members selected on the basis of outstanding service to the College or special achievements within their departments. Each recipient will receive a check for $750 and a certificate of recognition.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligibility for awards extends to all current non-exempt employees who have held regular, full-time (30 hours/week or more) positions at the College for at least three consecutive years. Any member of the campus community including students, faculty, administrators and staff may submit nominations to the director of Human Resources. Nominations will be reviewed and recipients selected by a committee consisting of members of senior administration.

SUPERLATIVE EFFORT, AVAILABILITY, AND DEDICATION: The employee has rendered hours of excellent service well beyond the norm over an extended period of time, has consistently been available and willing to sacrifice other activities to meet the needs and demands of his or her position.

SPECIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: The employee has successfully completed a major and difficult project, or has offered and helped carry through new ideas or concepts that have resulted in significant service, operational or financial improvements.

EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP: The employee has provided leadership beyond what is normally required of his or her job by filling in for vacant positions or assuming extra responsibilities in relationship to other employees in the achievement of major departmental goals or significant improvements in quality of services.
