DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Represents the Minnesota Army National Guard, in Title 32, AGR position authorization while serving as Assistant Professor of Military Science (APMS) in a Cadet Command Battalion. Primary duties include: Recruiting Operation Officer (ROO) and Contracting Officer that is responsible for advertising through various media, coordinating and administrating recruiting and retention initiatives. Markets the Army ROTC program reaching influencers, campus officials, local community representatives, and potential cadets to promote the overall training mission of the battalion. Presents briefings on the benefits of the ROTC program that include leadership, skill development, scholarships, and other available financial aid. Develops a plan to identify the Scholar-Athlete-Leader market at the University and with potential cadets. Acts as Contracting Officer ensuring that qualified potential cadets meet all requirements prior to contracting and receiving scholarships. Ensures all contracts, scholarship documentation, and supporting paperwork is properly processed. Monitors this paperwork for all contracting / scholarship programs, 2, 3, 4- year ROTC Scholarships, Army Nursing scholarships, Guaranteed Reserve Force Scholarships, Dedicated Army National Guard Scholarships, Simultaneous Membership Program, Camp Based, High School, and Green-to-Gold Scholarships. Performs duties of academic advisor and counselor to MSI-MSIV cadets. Advises cadets on branch career options prior to and upon commissioning. Responsible for cadet enrollment in special programs such as Cadet Practical Field Training (CPFT), Cadet Troop Lead Training (CTLT), Drill Cadet Leadership Training (DCLT), Internship and the Cultural Language Program (CULP), Leader Training Course (LTC), Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP), and Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC), Assists other cadre members with cadet activities such as, Ranger Challenge, Perishing Rifles, Presidents Challenge Fitness Program, Fall FTX, Spring FTX, Bataan Death March, Army Ten – Miler road race, Dining In, Military Ball, MSIV Staff Ride, Combat Water Survival Training, Air Assault School, Airborne School, and Mountain Warfare School. Serves as substitute instructor for MSI-MSIV classes and Leadership Labs, as needed. Supervises the Gold Bar Recruiter and monitors the program. May instruct/serve in the Basic Course at Fort Knox, KY or Advanced Course at Fort Lewis, WA as required.
