/ Dear Members, Friends and Supporters,
We’ve had a very busy month, and it looks like it’s going to get even busier! First up, I’d like to tell you about our very first life member. Just as we were preparing to offer a life membership for the first time, Harry Krug, of Treasure Island, Florida asked what our lifetime membership fee was. Mr. Krug was a Charter member, first joining AFA in July of 2002, and has been a loyal member ever since; he is a true patriot.
Our life membership is the lowest I’m aware of among other pro-gun grassroots organizations, at just $300.00. Lifetime members receive a specially designed mug, a framed certificate, a new lifetime membership card, a mention on our web site, and a mention in the next published newsletter. Congratulations, Mr. Krug for vowing to stand by us, and this very important cause, for life!

Web Site Update

The next bit of exciting news is that our on-line membership application is finally functional again. It’s been a long time coming and I’m distressed about how many wonderful members we could have had join us in the months it wasn’t working. But, it’s working now, so if it's time to renew your membership, or you want to join, or donate, you may do so with a major credit card over our secure server. Soon, you’ll be able to pay online with your checking account, too. Visit our join/renew page at:
Speaking of membership, we’ve just implemented an incentive award program for our loyal members. If a paid member refers someone to become a first time AFA member, the referring member will receive an incentive gift – a small token of our appreciation. There’s no limit on the number of incentive gifts you can earn, so convince your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to join us. Make sure you have your referral put your name in the appropriate line of their Membership Application Form.
We’ve had some new member packets get lost in the mail. If you’ve joined or renewed, and you haven’t gotten your membership card within 30 days, please notify us immediately: . You may also experience a delay in receipt of your membership card because we don’t print them individually. We need to wait until there are at least 8 cards to print. This is because we want to keep the waste of card stock to a minimum.
AFA is now an Internet Service Provider!
Our ISP service has much to offer you as a pro freedom supporter: No set up fees; 5 free e-mail accounts; privacy; no pop-up ads; $9.95 per month un-metered access; and the satisfaction of knowing that your monthly fee will not only support your views of the Second Amendment, but will actually be taking your dollars out of the hands of companies that are fighting against our right to Keep And Bear Arms. For more information please visit http://www.armedfemales.net.
FOR A LIMITED TIME Armed Females of America is offering a discount on our annual membership and renewal. If you subscribe to our ISP service, AFA will discount your membership fee by $5.00. If you join AFA or renew your membership now, we will mail you a refund check, once your ISP subscription has been confirmed.
Update your contact information. We have had some emails and renewal notices sent through US mail returned to us. If you have moved or changed your email address, or know of a member who has different contact information, please let us know. Part of the benefits of being an AFA member is receiving current information, newsletters, and notification of activism projects. Send your changes to: Lori Broadhead ~ . Thank you.
We have appointed a few new State Directors since our last newsletter. Krista Wilson is our new State Director in Virginia. Jennifer Barcklay is the Washington State Director, and Robert Cirricione has taken on the state of California. They join Kathryn Graham as the Texas State Director, Lynn O’Neal as the Texas Regional Director – Abilene Chapter, and Diane McKeough, New York State Director. Kathryn and Lynn have recently placed Director Assistants as well. John Tarsikes is Kathryn’s Assistant, and Robert O’Neal is Lynn’s. We welcome these two hard working, and dedicated patriots to our leader’s ranks.
Our new State Directors will be receiving their AFA email addresses shortly. When they do, they’ll be introducing themselves to each of their state’s members. In the meantime, if you need to get in touch with them, feel free to contact them through our general email address: . Please place their name in the Subject line of your email.
We are still looking for people to step forward and accept leadership positions. If you think taking on a volunteer position for a very worthy cause is for you, please contact me – Lori Broadhead, .
Diane McKeough, our New York State Director has recently taken on more responsibility by accepting the management position of Managing Director. Diane’s new duties include, among other things, personally coaching our new State and Regional Directors through the start-up phase of their chapter. We welcome Diane to this new position; she is, as is all our Directors, an asset to AFA. We’re very proud of all our leaders.

Our Current Project

Finally, I’d like to introduce you to our newest activism project. We’ve started a postcard campaign regarding the Assault Weapons Ban, and allowing it to sunset. The postcards are already done for you. We decided to send postcards because everyone who handles them will be able to read our message.
We’ve been informed that President Bush plans on pushing through the AW Ban immediately because he thinks that gun owners will forget about it by election time. WE WILL NOT FORGET! Please help us prove to our government that we want Klinton’s 1994 Assault Weapons Ban to sunset in 2004. Download our Microsoft Word postcard documents; there’s a document for both front and back of the cards. Print both sides on heavy card stock paper; cut them apart, put your return address on front, sign the backs, and mail all four of them. Page One Page Two
There is one postcard for each of the following people: President George W. Bush; House Majority Leader (Republican,) Tom DeLay; Senate Majority Leader (Republican), Bill Frist; and finally, Speaker of the House (Republican), Dennis Hastert.
Have all your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers participate, too. Postage for postcards is cheaper than for letters, so you might even set a goal to send a certain amount of cards yourself, or hand them out, postage affixed, at gun shows or gun ranges. You can just ask for a return address label from each of your friends and family members, have them sign the back of the cards, and send the cards yourself! That way, you’ll know they’re being sent.
If you belong to any other e-lists, e-groups, or newsletters, tell them of our campaign, and ask them to please participate. When we find out which legislators aren’t on our side, we’ll send post cards to them as well. Stay tuned for more on this very important matter. Please, if you don’t participate in one other activism project this year, this is the one to put all our effort into; it’s a necessity! We need all the help we can get on this one. Write in and tell us of your successes of getting people to help you on this project.
Upcoming Events
18th Annual Gun Right Policy Conference;
Meet RKBA Leaders from around the Nation
Activists from around the country will converge on Houston, Texas for the 18th annual GRPC on September 26th through September 28th. They will meet at the George Bush International Airport Marriot Hotel to compare notes on the gun rights movement in their local communities, and to learn about the future of the movement to secure our freedoms.
The GRPC is the “Mecca” for gun rights supporters and gives us the opportunity to rub elbows with the national leaders and organizations in pro-gun movement, and plan strategy for the upcoming years activism.
If you would like to attend the GRPC with us, click the link above for more information and to register.
