*What happens after the supervisor is approved

1) For UoE employees Schools should send an e-mail to sacs@ed requesting the staff member is added on as a Supervisor, they must include the employees name and HR id or UUN.

2) When the supervisor is not employed via the University’s HR system, for example an honorary lecturer or they are based in an external institution, they should be added to the University visitor registration system [VRS]. This is necessary to create an association with the University. The VRS data feeds into the University identity management system [IDM] and forms the basis of the record which is created for the supervisor in EUCLID. The EUCLID supervisor data forms part of the many statistical returns so it has to follow the ‘golden copy’ principle embodied in IDM.

The VRS record should be created by staff in the School and the visit end date should be far enough in the future to correspond with the expected period of supervision. If the supervisors have no need to access University computing services, e-mail or MyEd, this can be reflected in the VRS set up.

3) The supervisors email address should be added to the CMVMPGR email circulation list.
