Title: STOP THE TRAFFIK Office-Outreach Intern

Location: Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, Westminster, London SW1P 4QP

Hours: 5 days a week

Unsocial Working: Occasional weekend and evening working required. Time off in lieu given in accordance with current policy

Duration: 4 Months starting from Monday 21st March

Expenses: London Zones 1-3

Working with: Global and UK team based in the HQ office in central London

STOP THE TRAFFIK is a growing global movement of individuals, third sector, businesses and community groups campaigning to prevent human trafficking.

We prevent human trafficking through;

·  Raising Awareness:Equipping communities to spot human trafficking and respond effectively

·  Getting Organised:Acting on ideas and action that disrupt and stop human trafficking

·  Thinking global (and acting local):Connecting local activity to the global problem and a global movement

·  Getting connected:An activist network, sharing stories, tactics and resources

·  Being disruptive:We work to disrupt and stop human trafficking

This internship role is to work closely with the team to reach, inspire and equip a global grassroots movement to take action and prevent trafficking in their local communities.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1.  To work closely with the team on the daily administration of STOP THE TRAFFIK

(coordinating team meetings, printing and photocopying, collecting post).

2.  Managing the information email address and responding to general enquiries (phone, email, letters)

3.  Responding to and recording bookings for training, speaker requests and UN GIFT box requests.

4.  Supporting both the UK team and Global team as necessary with specific project support, including conducting research and providing administrative support.

5.  With support, to communicate with grassroots STOP THE TRAFFIK groups and activists through different means of communication and resources.

6.  Participate in and assist at STOP THE TRAFFIK events, including public speaking, school lesson delivery, workshops, and running stands / stalls.

7.  To create and facilitate presentations and workshops given to young people.

8.  Manage and update STOP THE TRAFFIK databases.

9.  Managing incoming donations, processing merchandise orders, and invoices.

10.  To assist with and create new resources – i.e. press releases, advocacy pieces, lesson plans, flyers and presentations for use by STOP THE TRAFFIK staff and/or activists and STOP THE TRAFFIK groups.

11.  To carry out any other duties as reasonably requested and to work alongside all members of staff, interns and volunteers.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Job Knowledge / An understanding of basic issues around human trafficking / Awareness of STOP THE TRAFFIK
Campaigning knowledge and understanding
Experience / Past experience of being an activist or supporter for an issue / campaign or organisation / To demonstrate competency in any of the following:
-  Public speaking / training
-  Writing for diverse audiences
-  Graphic design
-  Marketing
-  Effective use of social media
-  Creation of resources for targeted groups
Skills / Excellent oral and written English
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of audiences
Excellent administration and organisation
Ability to use Microsoft Office

Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised
