NONPROFIT ORGANISATIONS

PROGRAMME DETAILS

Scope

The scholarship will cover the following:

(a) Course Fees, including tuition, course materials, housing and meals;

(b) Additional fringe programmes such as one-to-one clinic with specialist professor and visits to NPOs in the host country etc;

(c)  Additional two nights’ accommodation in the host country before the start of the course for awardees to rest and recover from jet lag;

(d)  Economy Airfare;

(e)  Medical and Accidental Insurance (for the duration of the course, including traveling time); and

(f)  Subsistence Allowance (local transportation & meals not provided) based on Civil Service rates.

Date & Venue

Scholarship awardees will attend relevant executive courses at universities determined by Tote Board.

For FY2016, Tote Board has identified six potential courses for successful candidates to attend:

The Board reserves the right to decide on the course to send the scholarship awardees to. Scholarship awardees will be informed about the details of the courses upon award of the scholarship. All selected applicants will be further subject to acceptance by the universities.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to all leaders of Nonprofit Organisations (NPOs) from sectors such as the arts, sports and social service. Strong preference will be given to top-level executives including Chief Executive Officers, Executive Directors and senior managers with leadership potential; and they must fulfill the following criteria:

(a)  Be a Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident;

(b)  5 to 10 years of working experience, with a good track record, in the non-profit sector;

(c)  Must have a role in shaping the direction, mission, policies and major programmes of the NPO and potential to make a positive change;

(d)  Possess a strong interest in, and commitment to, the development of the non-profit sector; and

(e)  Applications must have the endorsement of the Governing Board of the NPO.


Conditions of Scholarship

All awardees will have to submit, one month upon their return, a report containing the following:

(a)  An overview of the course outline;

(b)  Key concepts and findings learnt from the course;

(c)  Learning points and its application to the local context, in particular in the NPO that the awardee belongs to;

(d)  Application of ideas to the non-profit sector as a whole;

(e)  Personal assessment and observations of the course (whether it is relevant and useful); and

(f)  Any other significant highlights.

The Board reserves the right to use the content of the report in part or in full, in a manner it deems fit.

The scholarship awardees are required to share and make presentations at exchange forums, and conduct workshops or training from time to time, for a period of one year upon their return. Awardees are also expected to contribute, on a full-time basis, to the non-profit sector for a period of at least two years after their return.

All applicants will have to submit the duly completed application form and supporting documents as reflected in the checklist enclosed. All applications must reach Tote Board by 5pm on 31 Mar 2016. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for an interview.
